BOYS BASKETBALL DEFEATS WESTRICHARDS EARNS WIN #350!

Mason boys basketball earned their head coach another milestone win on Friday. The Comets dropped Lakota West and in so doing gave Greg Richards his 350th career win. The victory also put the Comets in a three-way tie for first place in the GMC after Lakota East was defeated by Hamilton. Oak Hills also shares the league lead, but there’s a lot of basketball remaining.

Mason fought to a 30-20 half-time advantage at Lakota West’s expense and then moved in front of the Firebirds 37-30 to begin the fourth quarter. The Comets put a bow on this victory with a strong final-quarter kick, outpointing the Firebirds 18-16 in the last stanza.

Matt Minick and Matt Smith led Mason with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Jack Cooper snared 10 caroms. Smith also dished out 6 assists on the night.

Mason (10-1, 6-1) will host Middletown on Tuesday, Jan. 15th.
