8/23	Moeller Inv.	2nd		The Mason Comets opened their 2019 cross country campaign at the Moeller Prime Time Invitational at Christ's Church in Mason last Friday, Aug. 23. Running under the lights on a cool Friday night, the Comets ran to a second place finish behind their arch-rivals St. Xavier. However, there was some glory for the Comets as Senior Johan Meyer notched a thrilling victory running down the St. Xavier lead runner in the final step of the race. A gap had opened earlier but Meyer stayed on the gas, never gave up hope and used a searing kick to score the individual victory. The Comets' second man was Super Sophomore Alex DeRoussel who finished in a solid 7th. The scoring was rounded out by Freshman sensation Isaac Schachleiter, Junior Austin Cooper and Senior Perry Johnson. It was Johnson's first time to score for the Comets in his career. Sixth and seventh men were Junior Brendan Pitcher and Sophomore Aiden Amshoff. The Comets will run a limited squad at the Loveland Invitational next Saturday.
8/31	Loveland Invite	3rd		The Mason Boys Cross Country team took on some local challengers at the Loveland Invitational this Saturday. Holding out their top 10 guys for future preparation, the next men up embraced the challenge. They finished a fine 3rd behind state-ranked Turpin and host Loveland. Junior Kyle Harrison led the Comets with at 13th place finish. He was followed by freshman James Mroczka in 16th. Freshmen Braeden Fedders and Keith Neuburger finished 20th and 21st respectively. Sophomore Joseph Schuessler rounded out the scoring in 25th place. Dylan Plouffe and Brady Messer were 6th and 7th men. The Mason Comets will spend the week preparing themselves and Corwin Nixon / Pine Hill Park for the prestigious Mason Cross Country Invitational this coming September 7th. If you have any children 9 and under and would like to have them try a short Cross Country race, come on out to the Mason Cross Country Meet tomorrow around 12:30pm. The gun goes off at 12:45, there is no fee, no registration, just show up and run. Everyone gets a medal, it is a great time! The race is less than 1/2 mile inside the confines of Corwin Nixon Park. Feel free to stick around and watch others race The girl's Varsity run at 9:00am, and then there are races all day after that. There will be thousands of people there, so give yourself plenty of time to park and walk to the start line. Have a great weekend!!
9/7	Mason Invite	1st		The Mason Comets Cross Country program hosted the 45th Annual Mason Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. The Comets rolled to a solid win against stellar competition. Hosting two-time Tennessee defending state champion Seigel and defending state champion Louisville Trinity, the Comets defeated all challengers in a 25 point victory over Seigel. Johan Meyer led the way for the Comets with an amazing 3rd place finish. He was followed by Sophomore sensation Alex DeRoussel. Isaac Schachleiter continued to run very unfreshmanlike as the Comet's third scorer. Sophomore Aiden Amshoff held down the fourth position, while Junior Austin Cooper was the all-important fifth man. Junior Brendan Pitcher and Senior Perry Johnson served as displacers as 6th and 7th men to add to the visitors' scores. The Comets will hold out their top runners this coming week, while the rest of the squad will compete in the Cedarville Invitational on September 14th.
9/14	Cedarville CC Invite	2nd		The Mason Boys Cross Country team ventured to Cedarville University on Saturday to run on the best course in Ohio. The long straightaways and wide path allowed for great and fair racing. Holding out their top 8 runners, the Comets rolled to a runner-up finish to Elder - demonstrating their tremendous depth. Pack running was the strategy of the day as the top five finished within 18 seconds of each other. The Comets were led by sophomore sensation Brady Messer. Freshmen James Mroczka and Braeden Fedders came in next, followed by junior Brennan Doran and sophomore Dylan Plouffe. Sophomore Colin Campbell and Freshman Keith Neuberger rounded out the top 7. Next up for the Comets... the varsity and top JVs will travel to the Trinity / Valkryie Invitational in Louisville, while the rest of the squad will compete at the Centerville Saturday Night Lights Invitational..
9/21	Trinkty/Valkyrie Invite	2nd		The Mason boys cross country team journeyed south to the prestigious Trinity Valkyrie Invitational in Louisville, KY on Saturday. Taking on a multi-state field in the Seeded race, the Comets finished a solid second to Providence Day School of Charlotte, NC. Senior Johan Meyer took down the whole field for an individual victory. Displaying toughness during the race to stay close to the lead pack he then used his searing kick to blow past the leaders with 150 meters to go. Meyer was followed by Sophomore Alex DeRoussel. Fellow sophomore Aiden Amshoff ran his best race of the season as third man. Freshman Isaac Schachleiter and Junior Austin Cooper rounded out the scoring for the Comets. Rajan Singh and Brennan Doran aided the Comets in the sixth and seventh man slots. The Comets fielded a second varsity team in the Varsity race. The Comets rolled to a resounding victory. With great pack running, James Mroczka, Braeden Fedders, Keith Neuberger, Dylan Plouffe, Colin Campbell, Chrisian Meyer, and Joseph Schuessler, all underclassmen, ran to victory. The Comets will split the squad next week with the top 25 going to the Culver Invitational in Indiana while the rest of the squad will compete at the Fairmont Firebird Invitational. --
9/21	Centerville Saturday Nights Invite
9/28	Culver Invite			The Mason Boys Cross Country team journeyed to the prestigious Culver Invitational in northern Indiana this past weekend. While they escaped the heat of southwest Ohio, they did not escape the rain and mud of the Culver course. The Comets rejected the notion that the conditions were difficult and ran with grit and heart to place second to the number one team in Indiana. This is their highest place ever at this meet. They defeated several teams from the Chicago area who always seemed to have the Comets' number in other years. Johan Meyer led the team with a fine 5th place performance. Sophomore Alex DeRoussel closed the gap on Meyer to hold down the second man spot in 9th place. Fellow sophomore Aiden Amshoff turned in a stellar performance in 11th place. Junior Austin Cooper and Freshman Isaac Schachleiter rounded out the scoring with 24th and 26th place performances. Junior Brendan Pitcher and Senior Perry Johnson finished as 6th and 7th men. The Comets will not compete this coming Saturday, but instead prepare for the Championship Season which will kick off with the GMC Championships at VOA park on October 12th. Mason Boys CC will be seeking their 5th consecutive league title and 9th since entering the GMC in 2007.

10/12	GMC @ VOA	1st		The Mason Boys Cross Country team rolled to another GMC title at VOA Park on Saturday. The Comets tied their school record of all-time low score with 23 points. The race was a Personal Record -fest with all seven varsity runners recording their best times ever. Senior Johan Meyer took individual honors and was proclaimed GMC Runner of the Year. Using a tight pack, the Comets secured first team all-Conference honors for their whole varsity team. Meyer was followed by Sophomores Alex DeRoussel and Aiden Amshoff. Then came in Freshman Isaac Schachleiter and Junior Austin Cooper to round out the scoring. Also recording personal bests were sixth man Rajan Singh and seventh man Brendan Pitcher. Athlete of the Year: Johan Meyer Coach of the Year: Tom Rapp 1st Team Aiden Amshoff, Soph Johan Meyer, Sr. Austin Cooper, Jr. Alex DeRoussel, Soph. Isaac Schachleiter, Fr. Rajan Singh, Sr. 2nd Team Brendan Pitcher, Jr. Mason Boys CC captured their 5th consecutive league title and 9th since entering the GMC in 2007. The Comets will return to VOA Park next Saturday for the first step toward the state meet with the district championships. Teams will place themselves in either Race A or B, determined by seed placement. In Race A, 15 Teams, the top four (4) finishing teams will move to Regional Competition, and the top finishing team will be declared District Champion, and the next finishing team will be declared District Runner-up. Individuals that finish in the top sixteen (16) qualify to Regionals. In Race B, 15 Teams, the top four (4) finishing teams move on to Regional competition and the top finisher will be the District Champion while the next finisher will be District Runner-up. The top sixteen (16) individuals will move on to Regionals.
10/19	District @ VOA	1st		Mason boys CC won their 12th consecutive District Championship this past weekend at VOA. The Comets finished with a total of 31 points to runnerup Turpin's 56 points. Mason runners finished in the top two spots in the race. Johan Meyer was the individual district champ finishing with a time of 15:51.25. Following close behind in 2nd place was Alex DeRoussel in a time of 15:57.85. Aiden Ashoff was 7th, Isaac Schachleiter 10th, Rajan Singh 11th, Austin Cooper 14th and Brendan Pitcher 20th. Next up for Comet Boys CC is the Regional and a bid for state! The OHSAA Regioanal Championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 26th at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio. The top 5 teams and top 20 individuals will qualify to the State Championships at National Trails Raceway in Hebron, Ohio on Saturday, November, 2nd.
10/26	Regional @ Hobart Arena	2nd		MASON BOYS CC REGIONAL RUNNERUP! The Mason Boys Cross Country Team punched their ticket to the state championships for the 13th consecutive year on Saturday. The Comets finished as Regional Runners-Up posting a fine score of 86 points. The conditions were challenging but the Mason runners did not let that affect their race negatively. TEAM FINISHES BELOW: 1-St. Xavier 46 2-Mason 86 3-Beavercreek 113 4-Lebanon 163 5-Tippecanoe 192 Sophomore Aiden Amshoff ran an incredible race, stepping up when needed to finish 5th overall. Senior Johan Meyer held down the number two slot on the team. Next in were Sophomore Alex DeRoussel and Junior Austin Cooper. Holding down the all-important fifth man position was Freshman sensation Isaac Schachleiter. Senior Rajan Singh and Junior Brendan Pitcher proved to be the best sixth and seventh men in the field. The Comets will compete in the OHSAA State CC Championships next Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. GO COMETS!
11/2	State Championships @National Trail	2nd		The Mason Boys CC Team finished their 2019 season at the State Championships at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio on Saturday. The Comets found their way to the podium (a top two finish) for the fifth time in 12 years. The race was a close one with Mason coming within 5 points of a state title. The boys closed the gap on their rivals from regionals and showed the state they are right up their with the best. Garnering all-state honors were sophomore Aiden Amshoff and senior Johan Meyer. Next in for the Comets was sophomore Alex DeRoussel. Junior Austin Cooper was the fourth Comet to finish. Rajan Singh held down the all-important fifth man place. Isaac Schachleiter was the sixth man and Brendan Pitcher was the seventh. In the past three years, the Comets have finished 4th, 3rd, and 2nd at the state championships. 8/17	OHSAA Early Season Meet	2nd		Mason Girls Cross Country opened their 2019 season at the OHSAA Early Season Meet this past Saturday, August 17. The team ran a strong race, placing 2nd overall, two points behind Lakota East. Maddie Ullom, Brooke Harvey and Kennedy Rader led the charge. The JV girls won their race going away. Next up, is the Moeller Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 23rd.
8/23	Moeller Inv.	1st		Mason Girls placed first at the Moeller Invitational this past Friday. The Comets raced ahead of 2nd place Loveland with a total score of 54 points to the Tigers 95. Mason's Maddie Ullom was 2nd overall with a time of 19.03.7, three seconds off the front position. Brooke Harvey was the Comets next finisher at 6th place. Kennedy Rader was 12th, Ellie Bevan 16th and Catherine Courtney was 23rd. Next up Mason Girls compete at the Loveland Invite on Saturday, Aug. 31st. ----------- The Mason girls ran their Varsity B team at the Loveland meet and thankfully they ran like an A team!! The girls took 2nd place in a closely contested battle with the Loveland Tigers who are quite good this year. The team was led by Ava Stover, who is returning to form and took a top 15 spot on this rugged, twisty course. The team had a great pack after Ava of Erica Fennimore, Ava Orlando, Ellie Horvath, Betsy Areddy and Olivia Kelsey! They ran tough together and made huge progress from week one. On the JV side, the big surprise of the day was Lauren Statzer! She smoked the field and ran a time that would have put in our top 7 in the varsity race! Great job to all!
8/31	Loveland Invite	2nd		The Mason girls ran their Varsity B team at the Loveland meet this past Saturday and thankfully they ran like an A team!! The girls took 2nd place in a closely contested battle with the Loveland Tigers who are quite good this year. The team was led by Ava Stover, who is returning to form and took a top 15 spot on this rugged, twisty course. The team had a great pack after Ava of Erica Fennimore, Ava Orlando, Ellie Horvath, Betsy Areddy and Olivia Kelsey! They ran tough together and made huge progress from week one. On the JV side, the big surprise of the day was Lauren Statzer! She smoked the field and ran a time that would have put in our top 7 in the varsity race! Great job to all! Next up for the Comets is the annual Mason Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7th at Pine Hill Park. The event may set a new record for participants as 4500 registrations have already been recieved. 9/7	Mason Invite	1st		Well today was a good day for the Mason Comets. The girls put together a strong score and were able to notch the win against a very young and hungry Loveland team. The field at the meet was enormous with hundreds of runners and dozens of very strong teams. The meet boasted over 4,500 participants and our girls came out on top. The team was led by Maddie Ullom and followed closely by Faith Min and Brooke Harvey. The Comets also got great production today out of Manuella Capiello and Ellie Bevan. The team had they're seasoned best average time and looks to be coming together well. They also had a few other strong performances that were noteworthy. Jenna Harris is really coming on strong as is Abby Muglia. Overall it was a great day and we could not be more proud of their efforts. Next up for Mason Girls CC is the Cedarville Invite on Saturday, Sept. 14th.
9/14	Cedarville CC Invite	1st		The Mason Comets took their B+ team to the Cedarville Invitational on Saturday. The results were great!! After holding out the top seven runners the XC team was still able to notch a victory and this 20 + team field. The team was led by Jenna Harris and followed closely behind by Catie Courtney, both of whom finished in the top 10. After these runners Aria Hawkins and Erica Fennimore came in close behind, logging season-best times, and our fifth and final scorer was Ava Stover. There was a few very strong individuals in this race but as a team the Mason girls looked great. They ran in a tight pack and dominated the field. The weather was great, and lots of girls had personal best times it was certainly our best performance to date as a team overall. Next up....Mason Girls participate in the Trinity/Valkyrie Invite this Saturday.
9/21	Trinkty/Valkyrie Invite
9/21	Centerville Saturday Nights Invite	3rd		This weekend the CC girls competed in the Centerville Saturday night lights race. The format of this race is pretty wild as it is held at night with thousands of fans packing a stadium that the athletes run through three times along with the fields and trails around the school. The field was completely loaded with several top ten state ranked teams in all divisions. Mason girls ran relatively well all things considered as we had one girl sick and one of our best girls had to sit out. Even with those handicaps the Comets were still able to place third overall. The team was led by Maddie Ullom, who ran a lightning fast 17:58 5K. She was followed by Ellie Bevan who had a personal best time and the combo of Faith Min and Manuela Capiello ran well also. The team had a few surprises with Jenna Harris scoring our final 5th spot!! Overall it was a good night with many positive developments for the team. Next Saturday, the Comets will participate in the prestigious Culver Invite in Indiana.
9/28	Culver Invite			The Mason Girls had a great weekend at both Culver and at Fairmont. At the Culver Invite in Indiana, the girls did quite well all things considered. The area had a deluge on Friday night, and the course was half underwater, and the other half was mud. The times were very slow on this sloppy day, but the girls did a great job at just battling and winning the day. The team was led by Maddie Ullom up front, who took charge early and was able to notch the overall win! Next up was Ellie Bevan and Manuela Capiello who have both been running great, followed closely by Faith Min and Jenna Harris who uncorked a big race! Many others did quite well, including Kennedy Rader, Aria Hawkins and Abby Muglia. The Comet Girls are not scheduled to compete this coming weekend. Mason will prepare for the GMC Championships to be held Saturday, Oct. 12th at VOA. The Girls CC program will be vying to return to the top of the GMC and unseat defending league champions, Lakota East. The Comets have won 8 GMC titles since entering league in 2007.
9/28	Fairmont Firebird Invite

10/12	GMC @ VOA	2nd		This past weekend the girls CCcompeted in the annual GMC championship meet at VOA. They ran very well and had great times, but unfortunately missed winning the overall GMC tiltle by just one point and finishing 2nd to Lakota East (33-34). In the sport of cross-country 1 point is as slim as one person passing another person. Unfortunately, the Comets were not able to do that, and just missed the win. Mason girls did have the individual GMC champion in senior Maddie Ullom. She ran to a personal-best time (17:57.30) and looked strong. After Maddie was a pack of three, Ellie Bevan, Faith Min and Manuela Capiello. A little bit back was our final scorer, Macie Radcliffe. Unfortunately, Jenna Harris lost a shoe during the race and was a little off her game. Overall, it was a solid team effort, just a little short of the mark we were hoping for. Mason Girls will be back at VOA this coming Saturday for the OHSAA District Championships. Teams will place themselves in either Race A or B, determined by seed placement. In Race A, 15 Teams, the top four (4) finishing teams will move to Regional Competition, and the top finishing team will be declared District Champion, and the next finishing team will be declared District Runner-up. Individuals that finish in the top sixteen (16) qualify to Regionals. In Race B, 15 Teams, the top four (4) finishing teams move on to Regional competition and the top finisher will be the District Champion while the next finisher will be District Runner-up. 10/19	District @ VOA			The Mason Girls Cross Country team raced this past weekend at the District Championships at Voice of America park. The conditions were nearly perfect, the fan support was great and the Comets were able to notch a win with a nice low score and some good times. Mason scored 15 points better than district runnerup Ursulaine Academy (40-65). The District Title was the Mason girls CC programs 11th in the past 12 years. Maddie Ullom was district runner up, and ran a solid race, just breaking the 18:00 barrier. Faith Min had a breakout race and placed well running her season best time. After Faith, the Comets were solid with Manuela Capiello running well, followed by Macie Radcliffe and Ellie Bevan as our final scorer on the day. The girls racked up the District Championship win, and move on to Regionals were they will meet the teams from Dayton. As of now the Troy Regional looks like a state preview with some of the best teams in the state in attendance, including Beavercreek, who many think may be the best team in the nation. It should be a good show! The OHSAA Regioanal Championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 26th at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio. The top 5 teams and top 20 individuals will qualify to the State Championships at National Trails Raceway in Hebron, Ohio on Saturday, November, 2nd.
10/26	Regional @ Hobart Arena	4th		Girls CC Advances to State! The Mason Girls CC Team fared well at the regional meet this past Saturday, and were able to advance to the state meet!! The elements were brutal at Troy, but the Comets braved them well, placing in the top 5, and qualifying the girls to State for the 15th time in the past 16 years! TEAM FINISHES BELOW: 1-Beavercreek-33 2-Lakota East-85 3-Loveland-114 4- Mason-117 5- Springboro-159 The team was led by Maddie Ullom who took 3rd and ran great! She beat many runners who have beaten her before and looked very strong in the process. Faith Min was our #2 runner and did a nice job for the Comets. After Faith was a 3 pack of Manuela Capiello, Aria Hawkins and Macie Radcliffe with Jenna Harris and Ellie Bevan not far behind. The team racked up 117 points, just 3 points behind the #3 team and not far off of the runner up position. Overall, it was a solid day for the Comets, but we believe there is more to give at the State meet this coming Saturday. The Comets will compete in the OHSAA State CC Championships next Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.
11/2	State Championships @National Trail	4th		Mason Girls CC made their back to the state championships in Hebron this past weekend. The girls went in hoping for top 5 or 6 spot and dreaming of a top 2 or 3 placement. The plan was to attack the race hard and early, and we did just that finishing on the podium with a fourth place finish. Beavercreek was the overall winner. At the 800 meter mark the Mason Comets were in the lead, as they race out hard, fast and agressive. After a mile, they had settled down and they were in 2nd, but 3rd through 6th place were all very close behind. The girls battled in mile 2 and hung on to 3rd place. In the last meters of the race, a few girls slipped a bit and we ended up in a respectable 4th place overall. The team was led by Maddie Ullom, who placed on the podium and ran with the best girls in the state! Faith Min was our #2 girl on the day, and she was a warrior for 5000 meters! Our 3rd girl has traditionally been our 6th or 7th girl, but she stepped up big!! Jenna Harris placed third for the Comets and really saved the day! Not far behind Jenna, was Manuella Capiello, Ellie Bevan and Macie Radcliffe with Aria Hawkins nearby as well. The girls raced with a great deal of courage and their coaches could not be more proud of how they battled from the gun! They took the race to the other teams, and gave them everything they could. The girls raced with a great deal of passion and pride and should hold their heads high. It was a great season, and we will miss our seniors dearly. Go Comets!

Mason fell in their season opener this past Friday to visiting Springboro, by a final 34-7 score. The Comets found themselves down early as the Panthers raced out to a 34-0 lead after three quarters. Mason engineered a TD in the fourth quarter on a 20 yard pass to Alec Dardis from Collin Brown. Dardis had 6 receptions for 73 yards in the contest.

Mason will stay at home this week when they host LasSalle. The Lancers defeated Lakota West in thei opener 34-7. The Comets will seek to bounce from an opening loss to Springboro. Friday night is also Hall of Fame Recognition Night.

Lasalle Football invaded Comet Country on Friday earning a 30-0 win. Mason struggled to produce a consistent offensive effort in the contest while the defense was tested by the Lancer offensive weapons.

QB Collin Brown led Mason with 11/18 passing for 107 yards. Running back Joe Longworth had 11 carries for 64 yards.

Mason will look to begin their league schedule this Friday when they host Lakota East. The Thunderhawks are 1-1 coming off a 14-6 win over Kettering Fairmont.

The Mason Comets fell to Lakota East in a GMC matchup this past Friday, by a final score of 20-14. The Hawks got off to a 14-0 lead in the 2nd quarter but Mason was able to draw wihin a touchdown on Jack Cooper 8 yard pass from Coltin Brown.

After the Thunderhawks added a third quarter field goal, Mason got things going in the final quarter. Alec Dardis caught a 26-yard TD pass from Brown with 7:33 remaining to get the Comets wiithin 3. East added anothoer FG with less than two minutes on the clock giving Mason one more shot. The Comets worked the ball down the field in the closing seconds but couldn't find the endzone.

Mason QB Colling Brown was 14/22 passing for 167 yards. Jack Cooper caught 7 passes for 74 yards.

The Comets go on the road this Friday for a matchup at Oak Hills (0-3). The Highlanders fell to Colerain last week 45-14.

Mason Football evened their GMC record to 1-1 on Friday, after dominating at Oak Hills. The Comets offense came alive putting up 378 yards of total offense and winning 35-7 over the Highlanders. Mason's defense was also equeal to the task holding off OH until the final quartrer of the game.

Mason QB had a big game going 12/15 in the air and tossing two TD's to Jack Cooper (25 yard pass) and Alec Dardis (14 yard pass). Collins threw for 151 yards total on the night.

On the ground Nolan McCormick galloped for 109 yards on just 5 carries with one TD. Joe Longworth had 12 carries for 75 yards and a TD.

The Comets are back in action this Friday at Sycamore (3-1). The Aves lost a tough battle to Lakota West last week (28-21).

The Mason Comets knocked off Sycamore 21-14 in the Battle of the Skies on the Aviators home turf this past Friday night. Both teams defenses kept points off the board in the first quarter, then Mason broke thru with two TD's in the next frame. Jaxon Orlando got things going with a 2-yard plunge. Jack Cooper caught a 12-yard pass from Collin Brown with just 1:22 remaining before half to give Mason a 14-3 advantage.

After the Aves tied the score in the third quarter, Mason got a long 65-yard TD pass to Alec Dardis from Brown with 7:14 remaining to finalize the scoring and give his team a big GMC win.

Mason QB Collin Brown was 12/18 passing in the game for 188 yards. Dardis caught 5 passes for 99 yards on the night. Nolan McCormick rushed 16 times for 63 yards.

With the win, Mason is 2-1 in the GMC and 2-3 overall.

This coming Friday is Homecoming! The Comets will host Hamilton (3-2, 1-2). Big Blue defeated Oak Hills 31-21 last Friday.

Mason QB Collin Brown had a big evening throwing 16/18 for 190 yards. He also ran for 54 yards and a TD. RB Nolan McCormick likewise put up some significant offense rushing 23 times for 100 yards and a TD. Reciever Brett Weselblatt caught 6 passes for 68 yards and two TD's. Mason hosted Lakota West last Friday night and struggled offensively, falling 14-6. Mason (3-4, 3-2 GMC), No. 9 in the computer ratings, was riding a three-game winning streak after opening the season 0-3. The big play of the game was a "back breaking" 55-yard West rushing TD with 5:16 left in the third quarter for a 14-6 advantage.

The Comets completed an impressive drive with senior quarterback Collin Brown’s 24-yard completion to junior wide receiver Brett Wexelblatt down the right sideline on third-and-25 from the Mason 36-yard line. Junior Nolan McCormick plunged up the middle for three yards to maintain the possession, and junior Jaxon Orlando completed the drive with a 1-yard dive with 1:50 left before halftime.

Mason will face a formidable oppent this Friday when they visit Colerain. The Cardinals (6-1, 5-0) got by Hamilton last Friday 17-3.

Mason Football visited Colerain last Friday and fell just short of upsetting the Cardinals on their home turf. Final Score 33-28. The Comets went into the fourth quarter with Colerain holding a 1-point advantage. With 43 seconds remaining in the contest, Mason scored a TD to draw wtihin 5 points, but an ensuing onside kick attempt failed and the Comets ran out of time.

Nolan McCormickk had a big night on the ground for Mason scoring two TD's and rushing for 88 yards on 25 carries. Comet QB Collin Brown also played well going 16/26 passing for 224 yards and two TD's. Brown also scored a rushing TD. Jack Cooper caught 7 passes for 117 yards and a TD. Nick Molanari caught 3 passes for 77 yards.

Mason Football did what they had to do on Friday night to earn a spot in the upcoming OHSAA playoffs. The Comets put together one of their strongest offensive efforts of the season and defeated already playoff qualifier Princeton on their home turf by a score of 35-19. This the 5th consecutive season that Mason has qualified for the 8-team playoff round.

After a close first half that ended with the Comets holding a slim 19-14 edge, the last two quarters were all Mason. Mason scored 21 unanswered points in the 2nd half, while the Comet defense shutdown the explosiive Princeton offense. Statistically, Mason had a 20-6 first down edge in the contest and outgained the Vikings 359-216 in total yards.

Several Comets had notable individual efforts. Running back Nolan McCormick rushed for 114 yards on 22 carries. QB Collin Brown was 16/26 passing for 170 yards and four touchdowns. Alec Dardis caught 7 passes for 79 yards and 2 TD's. Joe Longworth also got in on the scoring catching a TD pass in the fourth quarter. Nick Molanari had a very strong night catching 2 TD's for 60 yards.

Mason Football gave St.Xavier all it wanted and more thru 3 quarters of last Friday night's Regional playoff Semi-final. The Comets, against the tourney's #1 seed, played their final game of the 2019 season losing 48-20, with a score that didn't reflect the tightness of the frigid contest.

Mason played with heart, passion and nothing to lose against the Bombers, who they had on their heals most of the first half. After failing to score on an opening drive, Mason ripped off 20 unanswered points late into the second half. After an early TD by St. X, it started with a 12-play, 76-yard drive capped by a direct snap to junior Nolan McCormick for a 5-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter to tie the game 7-7.

Mason junior linebacker Jaxon Orlando batted a Bomber pass on the ensuing drive, and senior Jack Haglage picked it off to set up the Comets on the Bombers' 33-yard line. McCormick ran 31 yards two plays later to give Mason a 13-7 edge with 9:57 in the half.

The Comets' defense forced a three-and out on the next drive and went 69 yards in nine plays for its third touchdown of the quarter, a 2-yard strike from senior quarterback Collin Brown to senior Alec Dardis to shock the St. X faithful and grab a 20-7 lead.

St. X had a quick score with less than a minute to play in the half to close the gap, 20-13 heading into the locker room. In the final two quarters, the Bomber defense stiffened while their offense made a few big plays that opened the game up.

After starting 0-3, the Comets rallied this season to make the playoffs for the 5th consecutive season and finish with a 5-6 record. Congrats to all the players and coaches.

It was a day filled with ups and downs for the teams. That said, the Green squad, lead by AJ Wilhelm’s 76 and Nate Vonderhaar’s 77, finished 2nd in the field of 17 teams with a team score of 313. 8/9	Chapel Hill Invite	3rd				Mason took an overnight trip to Mt. Vernon, Ohio to participate in the Mt. Vernon Invitational at Chapel Hill Golf Course on Friday, August 9th. The field was made up of twenty strong teams from all over Ohio. Lead by Matthew Scheid’s numerous birdies, including five out of six holes at one point, the Comets managed a third place finish with a season low team score of 299. Matthew finished as team medalist with 71. Nate Vonderhaar and Ben Satterthwaite also had exceptional days shooting 74 and 75, respectively. The Comets were led by AJ Wilhelm and Nate Vonderhaar who both posted nifty 78’s. There were lots of birdies made but a few too many three putts (fastest greens the Comets have faced all year) to overcome Lakota East’s 296. The Comets all finished in the 70’s and were led by Ben Satterthwaite and AJ Wilhelm both with impressive 74’s. Matthew Scheid fired an outstanding 75, followed by great rounds by Nate Vonderhaar at 76 and Charlie Golski at 79. Windy Knoll is a challenging track known for tricky breezes and multi-tiered greens. Both teams played very well bringing home first and fourth place finishes. On an individual basis the Green team was led by Matthew Scheid’s stellar 72 and Nate Vonderhaar’s exceptional 73. The White Team was led by Rahul Parikh’s equally exceptional 73. 8/19	Lasalle Invite					Clovernook Country Club was the host of the 2019 LaSalle Invitational held on Monday afternoon. Dating back to 1923, Clovernook is the home of tree lined fairways and undulating greens. These trees played a part in many Comet shots and made for a tough day for scoring. That said, the Comets fought their way to a respectable team score of 315 to finish third of thirteen teams. Individual leaders for Mason were Matthew Scheid and Ben Satterthwaite both carding notable scores of 76. 8/22	Top 12 Invite @ Heritage	Mason 4.5 East 7.5				In what has become one of the most anticipated matches of each season, Mason’s top 12 took on Lakota East’s top 12 at Heritage Club on Thursday August 22nd.. Organized as a match play event resembling Sunday of the Ryder Cup, the match was full of exciting action. In the end, Mason fell 4 1/2 points to 7 1/2 points. Congratulations to Comet players Rahul Parikh, Daniel Heister, Timmy Hollenbeck, and Carson Howard for picking up full point wins and to Charlie Golski for halving his match. Mason and Lakota East have become big time rivals (but also friends) in GMC golf and will be battling for the GMC Championship in late September. 8/26	Elk Invite @ Yankee Trace	10th place				The Comets competed in the Centerville Invitational at Yankee Trace Golf Course on Monday. On a day that was filled with downpours of rain, puddled greens and gusty winds, the golf was quite difficult. Mason was less than satisfied with the day finishing with a team score of 328 and finishing in tenth place of 16 teams. Despite the extremely difficult conditions, Matthew Scheid was able to battle to an impressive individual round score of 75 to be Mason’s team medalist. 8/30-9/1	Van Buren Invite	2nd place				The Comets top six took a Labor Day weekend trip to Southern Pines, North Carolina to compete in the annual Peggy Bell Cup tournament hosted by Van Buren High School. The thirty-six hole competition was held at Pine Needles Golf Club and Resort and Mid Pines Golf and Inn. These course are known to have pine tree lined fairways and extremely difficult greens. The courses’ reputations held true to form and led to scores across the field that were higher than normal. Despite this, the Mason players ground out an impressive second place finish. Moeller was the champion, followed by the Comets who edge out Lakota East who took third. On individual basis, Ben Satterthwaite was the leader for day one shooting a strong 78 (one of only nine scores below 80 among all players for the weekend). On day two, AJ Wilhelm and Nate Vonderhaar were team leaders both notching impressive 81’s and leading Mason to a second day comeback over East. For the weekend, AJ Wilhelm was team low man firing a two day total of 161 and 8th place for the tourney! Despite tree lined fairways and some slick greens which lead to some difficult scoring conditions, Mason managed the course well. On an individual basis, Matthew Scheid was team medalist posting a nifty 75. He was followed by Nate Vonderhaar and Charlie Golski with 76 and 77, respectively. 9/14	Springboro Ivite @ Heatherwoode					Mason’s Green and White teams competed in the Springboro Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf club on Saturday. It was beautiful day on the golf course that was in immaculate condition. A few too many “bad holes” kept the Comets out of the winners circle. However, by posting a team score of 312, the White squad was able to place a notable third place finish out of the field of more than 15 teams. Due to a last minute scratch (illness) and an unfortunate disqualification, the Green team did not have the needed four individual scores and therefore did not register an overall placement. Nate Vonerhaar was team medalist shooting an incredible 75. He was followed by Timmy Hollenbeck who stepped into the one spot for the day and carded an impressive 77. The tournament was held at the magnificent Westbrook Country Club which featured lightning (imagine putting on a dance floor) fast greens to accompany difficult pin placements. Mason was up to the challenge posting a team score of 314 and grabbing a fourth place finish out of sixteen teams. AJ Wilhelm was the team medalist posting an individual score of 77. 9/21	Bishop Watterson Invite @ Clover Valley					Mason took their annual senior trip to Clover Valley Golf Club to compete in the Watterson Invitational on Saturday. The group of five seniors (Matthew Scheid, Ben Satterthwaite, Rahul Parikh, Collin McKenzie, and Brad Fenning) were accompanied by Freshman Timmy Hollenbeck for the event that included twenty-two teams from all over the state of Ohio. 9/24-9/25	GMC @ Walden Ponds	2nd				The Comets played record setting golf over the last two days of the GMC tourney at Walden Ponds– both collectively and on an individual basis. As a team, Mason posted an incredible two day total of 585 (292/293) eclipsing the prior school record by 18 strokes. Nate Vonderhaar continued his hot play from day one and was tournament medalist. Posting a two day total of 141 (70/71), Nate set an individual GMC tournament scoring record for Mason – an amazing feat for any player but even more spectacular for a Freshman! The Comets entered the second day of action trailing Lakota East by six strokes. With unbelievable vigor, the team of six battled all day long beating the Thunderhawks by five on the day to fall just short and take second place honors. For the day, Mason was led by Nate’s 71 but was closely followed by Timmy Hollenbeck with 73, Matthew Scheid with 74, and Ben Satterthwaite with 75. 10/2	SECTIONAL @ Sharon Woods 4 teams per sectional, & 4 individuals low score qualify for District	5th				On Wednesday, the Mason boys golfers were in action at Sharon Woods Golf Course against sixteen other Cincinnati area teams – all fighting for a top four Sectional finish in order to move on to the District Championships. It would be hard to imagine that any outcome could be more heartbreaking than last week’s one stroke loss at the GMC Championships. It was possible and it happened. Mason shot a team score of 309 to finish in fifth place. Moeller was the victor shooting 301. The heartbreak comes from the fact that the third and fourth place teams both scored 308, only one stroke better than the Comets squad. The day was not without good news as Nate Vonderhaar and AJ Wilhelm advanced to the District tournament with their individual play (top four scores from non-qualifying schools). Nate shot an outstanding 73 to win overall tournament Medalist, while AJ shot a notable 76 to move forward. Although the season came to a sudden and surprising end today, the conclusion takes nothing away from all the remarkable accomplishments that this team enjoyed. Seniors Ben Satterthwaite and Matthew Scheid will be sorely missed as the team looks forward. Their leadership, work ethic and positive influence have been steadying and influential forces for the younger players – not to mention their team leading play in the one and two spots – all year long. Ben and Matt are leaving the program at a level far above where it was when they joined. The Comets traveled to Kentucky to play the Notre Dame Academy Invitational on Thursday, August 8th. Mason scoring was led by Junior Catherine Zhang with a score of 77. Friday, Aug. 13th the Comet girls traveled to the Panther Invitational in Pickerington, OH. This is one of the largest events of the year (35 teams AM/PM waves). Many of the top state teams compete and it is often a good read for who will be at OSU in the fall. Their PM wave contained 19 teams and 111 competitors.

Scoring was led by Sophomore Ally Madden with a 2-over par 75 followed by solid performances by Juniors Zhang (81), Harter (82) and Heister (82) to secure a 3rd place finish. Varsity Green Comets traveled to the Lakota East Invitational at Shaker Run in Lebanon, OH on The conditions were quite wet after 2-3 inches of rain deposited after the overnight storms. The rain soaked course led to higher scores than expected for the ladies with none able to crack that 80 barrier. This left them behind their East rivals in 4th place for the event. Scoring was led by Junior Catherine Zhang with a score of 80 followed closely by Maddie Heister (81).

Friday, August 16th the Comet Girls Golf Team traveled back to East Columbus again to play at the Watkins Memorial Invitational. With many getting up around 4a to catch the 5:15a bus out of MHS, they were determined to make this one count. Led by Junior Catherine Zhang’s round of even par 72, followed closely by Ally Madden (73) and Maddie Heister (74), the ladies logged a season best team 296 to win their first invitational.

Monday, Aug. 19th, the Comets played in the Lady Elk Invite at Yankee Trace, their last event before school starts. The 7:30a shotgun start was perfect for Junior Catherine Zhang who led the Comets with a stellar 1-under par 71. While the course was setup for scoring, the rest of the team couldn’t match that pace, leaving the team a 6th place finish. Catherine’s score landed her 5th place individual honors, but the Columbus visitors filled most of the top spots once again with scorching 65 by New Albany’s Spiess. The Comets have shown glimmers this year, but will have to bring it all together in the coming events to make a run at these central Ohio powerhouse teams.

Tuesday the Comets made the long trip up to NE Columbus for the New Albany Invitational and finished 2nd overall to the defending state champs. They took on the red hot New Albany team at the New Albany Country Club. While it was warm and sunny, the wind made golf at this challenging track a bit tricky for all but the home team.

Junior Catherine Zhang’s continued to lead the Comets with a round of 77 good for T5 overall individual score. That helped the Comets (323) hold off Upper Arlington (326) to take second place. They were no match for New Albany on their home course however as NA took first easily with 305. Mason is edging closer to the state champs, but will need a complete effort by the entire team to make a run heading into the end of the year.

Sunday the Mason Girls hosted their first annual invitational event at the City of Mason Golf Center. It was a perfect day for golf with only a breeze and a high around 78. Top teams from the local area as well as Columbus battled on the Grizzly course.

Mason Green team was led by Sophomore Ally Madden and Junior Catherine Zhang with a pair of 78s to help Mason (317) narrowly edge out district rival Centerville (318) by one stroke. Meanwhile New Albany picked apart the Grizzly and was un-phased by the recent aerification of the greens as they posted a winning score of 296, well ahead of the pack.

GMC @ Walden

The Comets were GMC runnerup at Thursday's conference tourney at Walden Ponds. Lakota East got the win with a 25 stroke edge over the Comets. See the recap below:

Mason took an unusual number of seven players into the GMC tournament this year, versus the normal six. The team depth has given coach tough decisions all year, never finalizing his varsity team. After 261 holes since the beginning of the season, he declared there was no clear winner and split the 6th spot between two players.

Day 1 that 6th spot produced. Sophomore Demi Xie, also the top Comet scorer at the recent Mason Invitational, kept with her hot streak posting a team leading 76 (T4 overall Day 1). While Demi was rolling, the top of the lineup struggled leaving them four strokes out of first place with 312. However, despite her team leading round, Demi would sit on day 2.

Day 2, the Comets were faced with beautiful weather, but gusty winds added to the challenge. They simply could not turn it around with their leading scorer from Day 1 on the bench. They felt the pressure and were not able to back fill that spot. Sophomore Ally Madden cleaned up some first day errors and led the team with 78 (T5 overall Day 2). This would not be enough however with their rivals at East already four strokes ahead. The Comets could not catch up, falling to a second day total of 325 and letting the GMC title slip away.

All Mason players made First or Second team GMC minus Demi Xie (76) and Meghan Hartley (89), who were ineligible due to splitting the 6th spot in the lineup.

St. Angela Meri Invite

The Comet Girls Golf Team gathered for a battle against many top Cincinnati and Columbus teams at the St. Angela Merici Invite for a 2pm shotgun start on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day for golf, a warm mid-80s and partly cloudy. This US Open qualifying course is the Comets longest event of the season at 5683 yards and is a great test heading into year end events. With recent aeration and watering in the past couple weeks, some of the bite was taken out of Maketewah greens which were more receptive and a bit slower than normal. But the 10-15mph wind made up for that and gave the Comets every challenge they expected.

This year the Comets were paired with state champs New Albany, and a pair of Saint Ursula schools from both Cincinnati and Toledo. They chased the sun down typical for a late start this time of year, but finished with time to spare. Junior Catherine Zhang continued to anchor the Comets with a 6-over 79 followed by a pair of 82s from sophomores Ally Madden and Demi Xie. The Comets again were battling for second place among a host of other teams, all watching New Albany from afar run away with another win.

SECTIONAL CHAMPS AGAIN!

The Comets began their road to state on Monday in a heat wave on the last day of September. It was 94 degrees by the time they finished and the scores were equally smoking hot! Junior Catherine Zhang shot a scorching 3-under par 69 to finish as medalist and lead the Comets to repeat as Sectional Champs. Finishing in a tie for second place behind her was Sophomore Ally Madden and Junior Maddie Heister tied with a pair of 74s.

Their team score of 293 was the lowest of the year. This secures their place in the District tournament, the next step on their road to State. The Comets showed their depth with all players at 77 or less. With to compete for the District title.

Mason Girls Golf team finished 3rd at yestserday's District Championhip at Beavercreek Golf Course and for the 2nd straight season qualifed as a team for the State Championships. The Comets fired a team score of 317 tying Centerville but were ruled third based on the tie breaking fifth score. Lakota East was first with 315. Catherine Zhang, Ally Madden and Maddie Hester all tied for 7th with 79's.

Mason Girls golf finished their 2019 season this past weekend where most other high schools programs dream about. The Comet girls competed at the OHSAA State Championships at OSU and finished 4th overall.

Mason shot a team score of 314, 9 strokes off Lakota East's 3rd place finish with 305. New Albany ran away with the crown shooting a sizzinling 289.

Catherine Zhang was Mason's leader, shooting a 76-75 and finishing 18th overall.

9/19	East	won	1-0	6-1-2	4-0	Mason Boys Soccer took a big step towards another GMC title last night with a 1-0 shutout of a pesky Lakota East team. Both teams remained scoreless until senior Ben Damge beat two East defenders in front of the goal and buried the only score of the game. The 2nd half was more of the same, as the defense for both teams held their ground. Senior Logan Ayer earned the shutout with 1 save. Mason (6-1-2, 4-0) will visit St. Xavier on Saturday.

Ben Damge got thinks started early with a goal in the first 4 minutes of the contest. The defense held off the Aves till later in the 2nd half an "insurance" goal was made by Colby Snyder to give Mason a solid 2-0 lead. Logan Ayer earned the shutout with 3 saves. The Comets have 4 regular season matches remaining, three against GMC opponents, Middletown, Princeton and Colerain. Next up for Mason (9-1-2, 6-0 GMC) is a match at Loveland on Saturday, Sept. 28th.

10/1	Middletown	won	8-0	11-1-2	7-0	On a sultry October Tuesday night, Mason swamped the Middies of Middletown by a 8-0 final. Senior Ben Damge couldn't be stopped scoring 4 of Mason's 8 goals. Freshman Alen Kapic got in on the scoring as well putting 2 in the back of the net. Cameron Doner and Gabe Marlow each had a goal also. Senior Logan Ayer earned another shutout with 1 save. A Mason win at home this Thursday against Princeton and the Comets would earn their second consecutive GMC title and the programs 8th overall. Mason has earned GMC boys soccer titles in the following years: 2018, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2009 and 2007.
10/3	Princeton	won	5-1	12-1-2	8-0	BOYS SOCCER BACK-TO-BACK GMC CHAMPIONS! The Mason Boys Soccer team is the 2019 GMC Champions! The Comets defeated Princeton at home on Thursday by a 5-1 final score keeping their perfect league record in tact at 8-0 with only one game remaining on the regular season schedule. Sycamore is the next closes team in the GMC standings and they have a loss and a tie. The conference title is always a huge team goal and this year Mason made it "back-to-back" championships. The boys soccer program has now won the GMC 8 out of 13 seasons since entering the league in 2007. Thursday was also senior night at the multi-purpose field. The Comets honored 10 seniors in pre-game ceremonies: Colby Kramer, Landon Holland, Evan Hancock, Michael Valcarcel, Garrett Cheeseman, Matt Messer, Derrick Legault, Sebastian Amaya, Ben Damge, and Logan Ayers. In the win over the Vikings, goals were scored by senior Ben Damge (2), freshman Alen Kapic (2), and senior Sebastian Amaya.e The Comets (12-1-2, 8-0) close out the 2019 regular season on Tuesday at Colerain.
10/8	@ Colerain	won	2-0	13-1-2	9-0	Mason Boys Soccer ended their regular season schedule on Tuesday night at Colerain with a 2-0 win. The victory keeps Mason's GMC record perfect at 9-0 on the season. Goals were tallied by Ben Damge and Alen Kapic. Shahruz Bazarov earned the shutout in goal with 3 saves. The 2019 GMC Champion Comets record goes to 13-1-2 overall. Mason is the #2 seed in the upcoming Sectioanl Tourney. Their first round game will be Lasalle (#20 seed) at home on Sat. Oct. 19th, 7:00 pm. The Lancers defeated West Clermont 4-0 on Tuesday to advance against the Comets.
10/19	SECTIONAL vs. Lasalle 7:00 @ Mason	won	6-2	14-1-2	9-0	Mason Boys Soccer played a first round match at home vs. Lasalle on Saturday. The Comets found the back of the net often and came away with a 6-2 win to advance. No scoring details available. Mason will have another meeting with GMC rival Lakota West in the 2nd round of the Sectional this Tuesday, Oct. 22nd at Kings at 7:00 pm. West defeated Western Hills 7-0 on Saturday to advance. The Comets defeated the Firebirds during the regular season 3-0. The winner advances to the District Title game on Saturday. versus the winner of the Moeller/Little Miami contest which is slated for a 7:00 pm start at Lakota East.
10/22	SECTIONAL vs. West @ Sycamore	won	3-2 OT	15-1-2	9-0	Mason Boys Soccer needed overtime on Thursday to punch their ticket to the District Final. The Comets faced a resilient Lakota West team at Sycamore in the Sectional final. Mason got a goal from senior Ben Damge with 3:31 remaining in the 1st OT to earn a 3-2 sudden death win. Mason held a 2-0 lead on other goals by frosh Alen Kapic and Cameron Doner. The Comets will play #1 seed Moeller at Lakota East for a chance to advance to the Regional. The Crusaders defeated #13 seed Little Miami 2-0 on Tuesday to advance. Early in the season Mason and Moeller tied 0-0. Game time at East is 7:00 pm. The winner will play the Southwest Distirict champs, either St. Xavier or Dayton Carroll in the Regional Semi-final on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at location TBA.
10/26	DISTRICT FINAL vs. Moeller @ East 7:00	lost	2-1 OT	15-2-2	9-0	The Mason Boys Soccer season came to a disappointing conclusion this past Saturday in the District Finals at Lakota East, losing to Moeller in overtime by a score of 2-1. The battle of Greater Catholic League-South vs. Greater Miami Conference juggernauts was settled in overtime when Moeller slipped in a sudden death goal to advance them to the Sweet Sixteen and regional semi-finals against St. Xavier. Moeller held a 1-0 halftime advantage on the soggy Saturday night final. After a relatively quiet opening 10 minutes of the second half, the skies opened up even more. Mason senior Ben Damge was able to slip a long shot by the Moeller goalie to even the score 1-1. The would be all the scoring in regulation as both defenses stiffened. In the first 10 minute, sudden death overtime, Moeller took advantage of a scoring opportunity at the 4 minute mark to end Mason's 2019 season. An offside call was briefly considered, but after a consultation of officials, the goal was ruled good and Moeller was a district champion. The Comets finish 15-2-2, including going undefeated in the GMC (9-0) and winning their second consecutive league title. Ben Damge was named the GMC Player of the Year for the 2nd season in a row as well. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a tremendous season.

8/17	St. Ursula	won	4-3	1-0		The Mason Comets women’s soccer team earned a 4-3 win after a gritty and fast back-and-forth battle with the St. Ursula Bulldogs at home on Saturday night. The team is young, as 12 seniors graduated from last year's varsity, but this year's lineup showed its desire to have a winning season once again. Scoring started just four minutes in when midfielder Jayna Searles passed to outside forward Elise Haller, who made a long cross up into the box. Nicole Onweller took a touch and a made clean strike into the corner of the net. The next 30 minutes was a gritty battle that kept both backlines busy, with the St. Ursula keeper stopping several dangerous strikes, including those by Shannon Crogan, Emelia Geren, Ella Madden, Haller, and Onweller. The Comets’ young backline battled strong against a tough St. Ursula attack again and again, but the Bulldogs snuck one in to create a 1-1 tie. Then a free kick by Onweller landed in the box and was converted to a goal by Maddy Baird, giving the Comets a 2-1 lead at halftime. St. Ursula came our hard in the second half, briefly catching the Comets off balance and scrambling to match the pace and push. A penalty in the box led to a St. Ursula goal and a 2-2 tie with 36 minutes left in the second half. After several corners were dangerous but toughly defended by St. Ursula, the Bulldogs took their first lead of the night with a goal that made it 3-2. The Comets collected their play, worked together and found the speed and passing to get it done. They managed several more shots on goal that the keeper collected before left back Erin Hummel took the ball up the side and was fouled by St. Ursula in the box. The penalty free kick was converted by Onweller, knotting the score 3-3 with only a few minutes left to play. A last-minute rally led to an Onweller pass to Baird, who finished with a clean shot on the ground to the corner of the net with seconds left in the game. The Comets are in action next on Saturday, August 24th at home against Mount Notre Dame.
8/24	@ MND	won	4-0	2-0	0-0	The Mason Comets Women’s soccer team earned a 4-0 shutout victory against a perennially strong Mount Notre Dame Cougars to a large, loud crowd on Saturday evening at home. The Comets controlled much of the passing early on, with the middle line of Elizabeth Berry, Emilia Geren and Jayna Searles setting up several offensive attacks by the Comets frontline that were stopped by the Cougars’ keeper. The Comets’ defensive line, with Carly Keuffer, Kaitlyn Heckler, Tori Hopton and Megan Rubsum, quickly collected any offensive attacks by MND. Nearly 20 minutes into the first half, Bethany Moser dove to stop the first serious threat of the night by the Cougars. At 30 minutes, a long and strong shot by Shannon Crogan hit the post and rebounded inside the 18, where Elise Haller shot it across the front of the off-balance keeper, putting the Comets up 1-0. Then withfour minutes left in the half, Haller passed a long ball over the Cougars backline to a rushing Shannon Crogan, who caught the keeper off her line and took it to goal, giving the Comets a 2-0 lead at halftime. The Cougars came out strong in the second half, but so did the Comets. Ten minutes in, Maddie Baird sent a swift ball that bounced off a Cougar defender and was collected by Haller. Her shot past the keeper put the Comets up 3-0. A stalwart defense and impressive saves by Moser kept the clean sheet the rest of the half. With five minutes left in the game, the Cougars were called for a foul in the box. Nicole Onweller’s penalty kick was stopped, but the rebound bounced around the box before Natalie Sears hammered it home, giving the Comets a 4-0 lead. Bethany Moser earned the shutout with five saves. The Comets are on the road on Sept. 3 against Fairfield. Next up Mason (2-0) starts their GMC season at Fairfield on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd.
9/3	@ Fairfield	won	5-1	3-0	1-0	The Mason Comets Women’s Soccer team won its first GMC challenge and road victory 5-1 against the Fairfield Indians on Tuesday in a physical and fierce competition. Scoring opened just 30 seconds after the whistle, when Maddy Baird passed to Jayna Searles, who headed it into the goal. Ten minutes later, an assist by Searles ended in a smooth goal by Baird and a 2-0 score. The next 30 minutes included many runs and 50-50 challenges, with the passing largely controlled by Mason. The Indians worked to convert, including a dangerous shot by Fairfield that was on target but athletically stopped by Bethany Moser with 20 minutes left in the half. A minute later, Comets’ defender Leah Shaw got a strong foot on the end of Carly Keuffer’s corner kick, barely missing the Fairfield goal. With 20 seconds left in the half, Fairfield’s pressure on the stalwart Mason defense earned them a penalty kick. The strong shot touched Moser’s fingertips but sailed in the upper corner of the goal. The half ended with the Comets up 2-1. The second half was more of the same, with the Comets pushing back on Fairfield’s aggressive attacking as the Indians attempted to even the score. Twelve minutes in, Elise Haller crossed the ball in front of the goal where Shannon Crogan popped it in for a goal and a 3-1 scoreboard. Both teams continued to fight, with a back and forth battle of speed and physicality. Comets’ forward Nicole Onweller got into the scoring with 25 minutes left in the half with a strong strike that streaked past the Fairfield keeper for the Comets’ fourth goal. A few minutes later, Onweller sent a ball to Baird who tapped it in, making the score 5-1. That score stood. Moser had five saves for the Comets. The Comets are on the road again Saturday, when they play Ursuline at 2 p.m. at Blue Ash Sports Complex.

9/14	@ Loveland	won	1-0	5-0-1	2-0	In what was a physical and technical test for the young Mason Varsity Women’s Soccer team on Saturday, the Comets topped the Loveland Tigers 1-0 in non-conference rivalry at Loveland. The Comets took the field with a plan, and they showed their will to execute against a determined Loveland team known for creating scoring opportunities with set plays. Just 11 minutes into the first half, the Tigers took their fourth corner kick of the match. Three had been quickly dispatched by the Mason defense, and keep Bethany Moser made a save on the fourth. Just a minute later, Mason quickly moved the ball up field and made the only score of the game - a pass from Rylee Curl to Jayna Searles then to Shannon Crogan, who two-touched it into space and fired on the goal to hit the top left. The Tigers earned another corner before halftime, but Comets defender Elizabeth Berry deflected the solid shot. Going into the second half, Loveland came out aggressive and physical. They earned 5 more corner kicks in the game while the stalwart Comets defense – and four saves by Bethany Moser – preserved the win and shutout. Mason plays against GMC rival Lakota West at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mason. Mason girls begin a tough stretch on their 2019 calendar when they host nationally ranked Lakota West on Tuesday.

9/19	@ East	won	1-0	6-1-1	3-1	Defender Carly Keuffer scored the only goal of the game to give the Mason Women’s Soccer team a win on the road on Thursday in a GMC match against Lakota East. The Comets controlled much of the game’s passing, as the defense and midfield set up several offensive attacks that the Lakota defensive line collected. A solid shot by Lakota and a jumping save by keeper Bethany Moser kept the scoreboard at 0-0 at halftime. The Comets came out more organized and energetic in the second half, with the midfield and defense keeping the ball on the Lakota side and the offense creating opportunities at goal. The Comets were stopped by offsides calls 9 times in the game as they grinded for the net. With just over 7 minutes left on the clock, Keuffer took a solid shot from the box on a corner kick by Maddy Baird, logging the first and only goal of the match. The game ended 1-0, with Moser earning the shutout. The Comets are home at 7 p.m. Saturday in a non-conference game against Notre Dame Academy. Saturday is also the programs annual Top Golf recognition night.

It was a special night of wonderful memories for some very special kids. Thanks to all who participated and were there to enjoy the evening.
9/22	West Jessamine HS	tied	2-2	6-1-3	3-1	On another warm Sunday afternoon, the Comet girls played their fourth game in six days against West Jessamine of Lexington Kentucky coming away with a 2-2 tie. A sluggish start by the Comets allowed WJ to put a wide open near post shot by Bethany Moser in the 6th minute. The Comets controlled the ball well the rest of the half but could not find the back of the net. The biggest Comet threat was a penalty kick by Megan Rubsam at the 30th minute, but a nice tip over the net by WJ keeper prevented the score. Moser stopped 3 shots. The Comets came out strong in the second half. In the 45th minute Ella Madden hustled for a steal and pass to Nicole Onweller on the left wing. Nicole dribbled into the box and patiently pulled the keeper off her line for a nice shot to the far post to tie 1-1. WJ quickly countered on a corner in the 47thminute, but second half goalkeeper Sara Beinke had a nice tip away to defeat the threat. The Comets took the ball quickly to the other end for a break away by Shannon Crogan but Shannon was fouled by the WJ keeper just outside of the box. The Comets’ penalty kick ended just over the goal. In the 58th minute the Comets had two consecutive corners they were unable to convert, but the WJ keeper had a short punt that Natalie Sears was able to steal and pass to a wide open Rylee Curl for a far post goal. Comets led 2-1. Three minutes later WJ countered and were fouled just outside of the box. The penalty shot was on frame far post to tie the score 2-2. The Comets had WJ on their heels the final 15 minutes but the Comets were unable to convert resulting in the 2-2 final. Beinke had 3 stops in the second half. The Comets (6-1-3) continue their homestand Tuesday against Hamilton (4-6-2) at 7pm.
9/24	Hamilton	tied	1-1	6-1-4	3-1-1	Tuesday night the second place Comets hosted a 4-6-2 Hamilton Big Blue. Mason started the game with a breakdown on the defensive end of the field that allowed Hamilton to cross to a wide open player in front of the goal. Hamilton went up 1-0 five minutes in, shocking the home crowd and team. For the rest of the half the Comets controlled the ball, spending most of their time on their offensive half. The Big Blue packed in a tight defense and Hamilton’s goalkeeper was able to collect all of the Comet shots on target. The score at half was 1-0 with Mason having 4 shots on goal to Hamilton’s 1. Mason continued their ball control in the second half and at the 50 minute mark Shannon Crogan was able to maneuver an arching shot from the left side to the far post to tie the game at 1. Assist by Erin Hummel. The Comets could not break through again despite good passing and great looks around the box. Mason ended with 11 shots on goal to Hamilton’s 2. The 1-1 draw is the third tie in as many games, giving the Comets a 6-1-4 record. Mason takes on another tough GMC opponent Thursday at 7pm at Sycamore.
9/26	@ Sycamore	won	1-0	7-1-4	4-1-1	On a beautiful night for GMC soccer, Sycamore hosted the Comets in Blue Ash. Sycamore came into the game with a 3-6-2 record but their defense had only given up 6 goals in their last 5 games. The Comets after a hot start to the season have found themselves struggling to find the goal which was a precursor to the result of the game. Mason though, would break thru in this contest to win 1-0. The first half the Comets controlled the ball but could not get a clean shot off on the Sycamore defense. Mason’s defense had a very quiet first half as the offensive front of Sycamore was too busy helping defend their end of the field. The first 30 minutes of the second half was much of the same and the Comets looked like their pressure was finally going to wear down the Aviators. Jayna Searles had a shot from the 18 that hit the top post then bounced straight down onto the goal line and the Aviators goalkeeper was able to gather. The Aviators with a surprise attack of their own at the 74th minute woke the Comet defense up with a hot shot outside of their 18 that Bethany Moser tipped up and then gathered. The Comets at the 77th minute mark had a shot that the keeper was able to tip but trickled down her back as she fell. The ball slowly rolling towards the net was cleared by the Aviator defense. Just as the Comet fans started packing up to head home, Nicole Onweller passed a ball to a streaking Maddie Baird in the 79th minute. Baird was able to beat the defender just enough to get a shot to loft over the keeper into the far post. The Comets 1-0 win puts them at 7-1-4 and in a three-way tie for second in the GMC. The Comets put up 9 shots on goal. Moser stopped 4 shots for her league leading 7th shutout. The Comets get a much needed weekend off and travel to Middletown (2-10-0) next Tuesday.
10/1	@ Middletown	won	5-0	8-1-4	5-1-1	The Women’s Soccer team continued their road tour on Tuesday as they headed north to Middletown. The Middies coming into the contest were 2-10-0 and 1-7 in the GMC. After a weekend to rejuvenate, the Comets wasted no time getting into the offensive flow. In the 10th minute Maddie Baird fed Shannon Crogan for a far post shot around the keeper to get the 1-0 lead. The Comets continued to dominate and the only test from the Middies was a penalty kick at the 20th minute from 25 yards out that goalkeeper Sara Beinke was able to snag. Mason put together back-to-back goals in the 23rd and 25th minutes from two players getting their first goals of the season. The first was a shot over the keeper by Kaitlyn Heckler from a nice through ball by Jess Thomas. The second was Thomas doing it herself as she took a low ball past the keeper. Before the end of the first half, Nicole Onweller stole a pass from the Middies defense and was able to turn and take a ball far post for the 4-0 lead. Six minutes into the second half, Onweller showed off her skills weaving through the Middletown defense and putting a shot on frame that the keeper was able to knock down. Baird was there to put the rebound into the net for the fifth Comet goal. The Comets continued to press the Middies throughout the second half resulting in a 5-0 final. Beinke with two saves recorded her first varsity shut-out. The Comets (8-1-4 overall and 5-1-1 in GMC) complete their road tour Thursday as the head south to Princeton (1-11-1 overall)

The Comets (9-1-4, 6-1-1) will host Colerain next Tuesday and Milford on Thursday to close out the regular season. Mason is the #3 seed in the upcoming Sectional. They will host the winner of the Colerain/Edgwood contest on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7:00 pm.
10/8	Colerain	won	5-0	10-1-4	7-1-1	The Colerain Cardinals visited Mason last night in the final GMC contest for the Comets. Mason looked sharp with accurate passing and strong attacking of the Colerain defense and came away with a 5-0 shutout. In the 4th minute, Nicole Onweller took a pass from Jayna Searles and worked a goal past the keeper for a quick start. In the 18th minute, Onweller took a great pass in front of the 18 from Maddie Baird and worked around the keeper in a one on one situation for the goal. In the second half, Elizabeth Berry found a loose ball in front of the 18 and took a hard strike to the lower right side for the third Comet goal. Shannon Crogan was on the offensive in the 49th minute and struck a hard shot from the left side that Colerain’s keeper was able to knock down, but Onweller was there for the rebound and a hat trick for the night. In the 75th minute, Baird dished another ball right to the feet of a sprinting Crogan, leaving Crogan with just the keeper to work around and scoring the final goal of the night. The Comets kept the Colerain (4-11-0, 1-7-0 in GMC) defense exhausted at night’s end, with 16 shots on goal. The Comet defense stifled any Cardinal offensive efforts and left Bethany Moser and Mia Moran with no shots on goal for the shut out. Mason girls soccer (10-1-4) end their GMC run with a 7-1-1 record, taking second place. Their final regular season match is Thursday against a tough Milford (9-2-3) club. The Comets will be celebrating 8 fantastic Seniors prior to the 7pm start. Mason also drew a third seed bye for the first round of the playoffs and will host the winner of Edgewood and Colerain on Thursday October 17th at 7pm.
10/10	Milford	won	4-0	11-1-4	7-1-1	Thursday night the women’s soccer team closed out the regular season with a 4-0 win over a talented and physical Milford Eagles (9-3-3) team. Prior to the start of the game, the Comets celebrated 9 Seniors – Nicole Onweller, Natalie Sears, Bethany Moser, Sara Beinke, Leah Shaw, Ashley Gilliland, Megan Rubsam, and Team Managers Morgan Scholz and Lana Saqer. For the first 30 minutes of the game, both teams tried to set their own tone and most of the play was contained at midfield. The Comets broke through in the 32nd minute as Ella Madden dished to Rylee Curl inside the box. Rylee placed a screamer over the Eagle keeper’s head for a 1-0 lead leading into halftime. Moser and her defensive backs contained the Eagles offense with 2 saves. The second half was all Comet offense providing crisp, accurate passes and strong attacks from the forwards and midfielders. In the 47th minute, Onweller was on the attack and placed a high ball near the goal where Emilia Geren sprinted by defenders to head a ball into the net. Three minutes later, Maddy Baird dished the ball to Shannon Crogan inside the box where Crogan did some nice ball touches to get around the keeper and put the Comets up 3-0. Less than a minute later, Baird again threaded the needle with a pass to an open Elizabeth Berry just inside the 18. Berry took a hard shot by the keeper for the 4-0 win. The 3 quick goals took the wind out from the Eagles ending any offensive threats from them the rest of the game. Beinke had one stop in goal in the second half giving her and Moser the shutout. The Comets ended the regular season with an 11-1-4 record, outscoring their opponents 42-10 and recording 11 shut-outs. With a bye in the first round of the tournament, Mason will host the winner Colerain on Thursday October 17th at 7pm. The Cardinals (#20 seed) defeated Edgewood to advance against Mason.
10/17	SECTIONAL vs. Colerain 7:00 at Mason	won	6-0	12-1-4		The Comets saw Colerain for the second time in two weeks and got the nearly the same result with a 6-0 shutout in a first round Sectional match on Thursday, Oct. 17. Colerain opened up much more aggressive than last week, but the Comets were able to knock in goals early and often. Four minutes in, Shannon Crogan took a pass from Jayna Searles on the right side of the 18 and hooked it inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. In the 33rd minute, Nicole Onweller shot a ball in front of the goal where Crogan misdirected a header for the second goal. Just a few minutes later Onweller broke some ankles with a few great fakes and put a shot over the keeper’s head for a 3-0 lead into halftime. Maddie Baird got into the action in the 52nd with a shot that had so much spin on it, it bounced and slid around the keeper for a 4-0 lead. One minute later Baird stole a ball from a defender and put a hard blast by the keeper. In the 56th, Crogan weaved her way through defenders and smoked a shot by the keeper for her hat trick and a 6-0 final. The Comet defenders only allowed two Cardinal shots on goal that Bethany Moser was able to collect. The Comets travel to Kings High School on Monday at 7pm against a very talented Loveland team. The winner advances to the District Championship on Thursday against either Centerville (#2 seed) or Sidney at Lakota West.
10/21	SECTIONAL vs. Loveland @ Kings, 7:00	lost	1-0	12-2-4	7-1-1	Mason Girls Soccer season came to an end on Tuesday in the Sectional at Kings. The Comets suffered a heartbreaking loss to Loveland by a final score of 1-0. The loss ends a tremendous season by the ladies who finished GMC runnerup with an overall record of 12-2-4. Their only other loss was to Lakota West. The Comets best opportunity came in the 63rd minute. A pass was lobbed into the box, similar to the event that happened late in the first half. The keeper and striker fought to gain possession of the ball that acted like a pinball. The ball was batted, bodies fell to the turf, but the no ball found the net. Instead Mason had to settle for a corner, which didn’t harvest a goal. Congrats and farewell to the 7 seniors on the roster this year. Best of luck in the future!

Mason Earns 5th Consecutive GMC Title

The Comet Tennis ladies continued their GMC dominance last Saturday. The team earned their 7th overall league titlte (5 straight), sweeping every event at the conference two-day tourney on the home courts. Sycamore was a distant 2nd, Lakota East third and Lakota West fourth.

Ananya Aggarwal was the first singles champions and named the GMC Tennis Player of the Year. Sister Shyla Aggarwal was the 2nd singles champion and Annie Kruse was third singles champ. The league doubles champions were the teams of Raina Chad/Sanjana Reddy and Emma Kruse/Anna Tonkal.

District Semi/Finals @ ATP Linder Family Tennis Center

Five Comets qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament on Thursday by reaching the semifinals of the District tournament. Senior Ananya Aggarwal qualified for the third time by defeating Hulbert of Springboro 6-0, 6-0 and Williams of Harrison 6-0, 6-1. Ananya placed 4th in the state in singles her sophomore year and 3rd in the state last year, playing doubles with Sanjana Reddy.

Comets, Emma Kruse and Anna Tonkal each lost their qualifying matches in the quarterfinals. Kruse fell to Nugent of Springboro 6-4, 6-3 and Tonkal dropped a 7-5, 6-0 match to Pendergast of Saint Ursula.

Both Comet doubles teams reached the semifinals and are headed to the state tournament. Senior, Sanjana Reddy will also make her third appearance at the state tournament. Reddy, teaming with Freshman, Shyla Aggarwal, defeated Sullivan and Preston of Centerville 6-0, 6-1 and then they downed Broermann and Wenger of Loveland 6-1, 6-1.

Juniors, Annie Kruse and Raina Chada, who placed 4th in the state in 2018 will return to the state tournament in 2019. The duo, bolstered by strong serves, defeated Smith and Ferrell of Northmont 6-0, 6-1 and then gave up only a pair of games, beating the Centerville team of Khosia and McPherson, 6-1, 6-1.

Mason Girls Tennis battled for individual OHSAA state titles at the Linder Family Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday. It was an exhausting weekend of competion for the Comets to close out the 2019 fall season. Senior Ananya Aggarwal was the Division State Runnerup. She battled her way to the finals versus Abby Nugent from Springboro (sophomore) before falling 6-4, 7-5 in an heated state final.

Aggarwal finishes her Mason career as a two-time GMC Player of the Year, with many more honors for sure to come her way.

Juniors Annie Kruse/Raina Chada finished third in Division I doubles and will certainly be back for the senior seasons to compete for state titles. Sanjana Reddy and Shyla Aggarwal also competed at state and will be back again in 2020 compete for another state title.

ITS A THREE-PEAT FOR MASON GIRLS TENNIS!

Mason Girls Tennis is making a strong case for being labeled as a "high school tennis dynasty." A day after a productive outing at the state individual tournament at the Lindner Tennis Center, the Comets went to Reynoldsburg and for the third straight season, won the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Division I state team tournament. Mason earned shutouts (3-0) against Upper Arlington and Magnificat to claim another state title.

Saturday in Mason, Ananya Aggarwal was the OHSAA Division I singles runner-up, while Annie Kruse/Raina Chada finished third in Division I doubles.

Ananya Aggarwal's singles matches weren't needed as Emma Kruse posted quick victories in third singles and Mason's doubles teams completed the sweep.

"It's a great day to be a Comet!" Reid said. "It is hard because you play a lot of teams and you play a lot of different lineups. There's a little bit of rock, paper, scissors going on in terms of which players play singles and which players play doubles."

Against Upper Arlington, Emma Kruse won third singles 6-0, 6-1. In doubles Sanjana Reddy/Annie Kruse won 6-0, 6-1 and Raina Chada/Anna Tonkal won 6-0, 6-1.

In the final against Magnificat, Emma Kruse cruised 6-0, 6-0, as did Reddy/Annie Kruse. Megan Li/Kelly Reid won second doubles 6-3, 6-2 to send seven senior Comets out with a state title.

"Team tennis is a different dynamic," Reid said. "It's important for everybody on the team to see what the other kids are doing. It affects the flow of the match. Anaya (Aggarwal) got off to a 3-0 start. It helped that she got a good start and the other kids saw how well she was doing and that gave them confidence."

"It was a pretty special day for us with a great group of kids that together have won three state championships in a row," Reid said.

8/21	@ Turpin	won	25-14, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20	1-1		The Comet girls won their contest at Turpin on Wednesday, Aug. 21st by score os 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17. Next up Mason will host Centerville on Monday, Aug. 26th.
8/24	CHCA	won	25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 25-19	2-1	0-0	The Varsity Volleyball team came out strong on Saturday against CHCA winning the game in 4 sets 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 25-19. Sophomore Brooklyne Darby and Junior Marilyn Popplewell led the offensive with 14 and 13 kills respectively. Senior Hannah Simmons dished out 35 assists while Senior Bailey Flowerdew and Junior Lauren Toratti led the defensive with 21 and 20 digs respectively. The Comets are 2-1 and will host Centerville tonight starting at 6:45pm.
8/26	Centerville	won	25-17, 22-25, 25-13, 25-17	3-1	0-0	Mason Girls Volleyball defeated Centervile at home on Monday by scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-13, 25-17. The teams record goes to 3-1 overall. The Comets will play their first league match of the season on Thursday at home vs. Fairfield.
8/29	Fairfield	won	25-16, 25-14, 25-19	4-1	1-0	Mason Volleyball opened GMC play on Thursday hosting Fairfield and came away with a three game sweep. Scores were 25-16, 25-14, 25-19. Next up for the Comets (4-1) is an away match at Oak Hills on Thursday, Sept. 5th.
9/5	@ Oak Hills	won	25-13, 25-11, 25-18.	5-1	2-0	Mason defeated Oak Hills 25-13, 25-11, 25-18 on Thursday. Junior Marilyn Popplewell pounded down 8 kills while sophomore Kalli Wall added 7 kills. Juniors Vanessa Stroud and Lauren Toratti led the serves with 3 aces each. Senior Bailey Flowerdew scooped up 18 digs in the back row. The Comets are 2-0 in the GMC and 5-1 overall. Mason will host McNicholas on Monday, September 9 at 6:30pm. VOLLEY FOR THE CURE SOON! Mason High School"s Volley for the Cure volleyball game is being held on September 24th in the high school gymnasium. We would like to fill Mason City Schools with pink in honor of the Volley for the Cure event on Tuesday the 24th. Every year the t-shirts are donated by various printing companies across Ohio. Therefore, most of your t-shirt order money will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast health programs and cancer research. Below is a link to an order form for a $5.00 t-shirt. You may only order one t-shirt per form. You will need to fill out multiple forms if you want more than one shirt. Orders are due by September 5th. Shirts are supposed to arrive two weeks after the orders are submitted. I (Coach Myer) will do my best to deliver all shirts by September 23rd, so that everyone can wear their shirts on September 24th. In order to ensure you get your shirt, please print a copy of the order receipt when you submit your order. Clip together your order receipt and $5,00 cash, and give it to me in A212. If you do not have a printed receipt from google hand write your name and what you ordered on a sheet of paper and clip it to your money. 9/9	McNicholas	won	25-13, 25-10, 25-20	6-1	2-0	Mason Varsity Volleyball started the week off strong with two victories! Monday, the Comets defeated McNicholas 25-13, 25-10, 25-20. As a team, Mason hit a .339 (45 kills with only 8 errors); Junior Lauren Toratti had 3 service aces and 15 digs; Senior Bailey Flowerdew scooped up 22 digs.
9/10	Middletown	won	25-2, 25-5, 25-6.	7-1	3-0	Tuesday night, the Comets came in and took care of business by defeating Middletown 25-2, 25-5, 25-6. Senior Sophie Hoffman powered over 6 service aces; Senior Jacque Iroh pounded down 5 kills. It was a solid team performance. The Comets will travel to Lakota West on Thursday for a 6pm start.
9/12	@ West	won	25-20, 25-17, 25-22	8-1	4-0	Mason visited Lakota West last night and came away with a 3-game sweep by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-22. The Comets go to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the GMC. Next up, Mason will compete in the Columbus Power Tourneey on Saturday and Sunday.
9/14	Columbus Power Tournament vs. Walsh Jesuit	won	25-20, 25-23	9-1	4-0	Mason participated in the Columbus Power Tourney this weekend. On Saturday the earned a three-game win over Walsh Jesuit with scores of 25-20, 25-23.
9/15	Columbus Power Tournament	lost	25-22, 25-22, 27-29, 25-20	9-2	4-0	On Sunday they took a 4-game loss to Strongsville by scores of 25-22, 25-22, 27-29, 25-20. Mason (9-2, 4-0) gets back to conference play when they host Lakota East on Tuesday.
9/17	East	won	27-29, 25-15, 25-13, 25-18	11-3	5-0	Mason Volleyball defeated visiing Lakota East last night in 4 games. Scores: 27-29, 25-15, 25-13, 25-18. Next up, Mason will host top ranked Ursuline on Thursday.
9/19	Ursuline	lost	25-9, 25-23, 25-12	11-4	5-0	Mason fell at home on Thursday to the states #1 ranked team, Ursuline in three games. Scores were: 25-9, 25-23, 25-12. The Comets record is 11-4 overall and 5-0 in the GMC.
9/24	Sycamore VOLLEY FOR THE CURE	won	25-19, 25-12, 25-13	12-4	6-0	Mason Girls Volleyball kept their GMC record perfect last night with a 3-game sweep of Sycamore by scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-13. It was a big night for the ladies as they hosted the Volley for the Cure and raised hundreds for the fight against breast cancer. Next up Mason will host Princeton on Thursday, Sept. 26th.
9/26	Princeton	won	25-4, 25-5, 25-12	13-4	7-0	Mason girls volleyball swept Princeton in three on Thursday by scores of 25-4, 25-5, 25-12. Next up, Mason (13-4, 7-0) will visit Mount Notre Dame on Saturday. Only Hamilton (10/1) and Colerain (10/3) stand in the way of Mason earning their fourth consecutive GMC Title (6th overall) and "running the table" again in the league.
9/28	@ MND	lost	25-13, 25-19, 25-14	13-5	7-0	Mason Girls Volleyball suffered a 3-game loss to Mount Notre Dame on Saturday. Final scores: 25-13, 25-19, 25-14. The Comets (13-5, 7-0) head back into the final week of GMC play looking to win their 6th overall league title and "running the table" in the GMC for the 4th consecutive season. Mason will visit Hamilton on Tuesday and conclude league play at Colerain on Thursday.
10/1	@ Hamilton	won	25-7, 25-13, 25-8	14-5	8-0	Mason Girls Volleyball earned another GMC win last night defeating Hamilton 25-7, 25-13, 25-8. The Comets are one win away from sweeping the GMC for the 4th consecutive season. The girls VB program has not lost a GMC match since the Fall of 2015. A victory at Colerain on Thursday would earn Mason their 6th league championship (2018, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013 tie).
10/3	@ Colerain	won	25-14, 25-14, 25-17	15-5	9-0	Mason VB Wins 4th STRAIGHT GMC TITLE! The Comet Girls Vollyball team continued to dominate the GMC in 2019. Mason defeated Colerain on the visitors home court on Thursday night to clinch their 6th overall GMC title. Mason has gone undefeated in the conference 4 consecutive seasons (36-0) and has not lost a league game since way back in 2015. Seniors So Mason joins Lakota West and Oak Hills with the most titles (including ties) in the modern era of the league (1997-2019) with 6. Lakota East is second with 5 wins or ties. The future of Mason volleyball continues to look very bright as this season all three levels (frosh, JV, Varsity) finished with perfect records in the league. The Comets routed Colerain by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 in the three-game sweep. Mason (15-5, 9-0) will have two non-conference matches to close out the regular season; Tuesday at McAuley and Thursday, Oct. 10 at home vs. Seton for senior night.
10/8	@ McAuley	won	25-18, 25-13, 25-18	16-5	9-0	The GMC Champions Girls VB team handily took care of visiting Mercy-McAuley last night by scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-18. The win sends their record to 16-5 overall. Mason will end their regular season schedule on Thursday at home versus Seton in another non-conference battle.
10/10	Seton	lst	17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13	16-6	9-0	Mason Volleyball closed out their regular season schedule on Thursday with a 17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13 loss to visiting Seton on senior night. In pregame ceromonies, four seniors were honored for their contributions to Mason Volleyball: Sophie Hoffman, Bailey Flowerdew, Hannah Simmons and Jacque Iroh. The Comets finish the regular season with a 16-6 mark and 9-0 as GMC Champions for the 4th straight season. Mason is the #4 seed in the upcoming Sectional Tourney. They will host the winner of the Edgewood/Hamilton contest on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1:00 pm.
10/19	SECTIONAL vs. Edgewood 1:00 pm	won	25-15, 25-15, 25-18	17-6	9-0	Mason Volleyball easily rousted Edgewood on Saturday in their first Sectional contest. Final scores: 25-15, 25-15, 25-18. The Comets advance to play Mercy-McAuley in the next round at Lakota East on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd at 6:00 pm. Earlier this season the Comets defeated this team in three sets. The winner will play this Saturday at Butler HS, 2:00 pm against either #1 Centerville or Sdney for a District Title.
10/22	SECTIONAL vs. Mercy-McAuley 6:00 at East	lostq	25-17, 25-20, 25-22	17-7	9-0	Mason Volleyball saw their season end on Tuesday at the Sectional at East. The Comets fell in three sets to Mercy-McAuley by scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-22. Mason girls had an outstanding season, capped by winning the programs 4th straight undefeated GMC title and finishing with an overall record of 17-7. Congrats to all the players and coaches!
