Junior Evan Denny got the winning hit in extra innings to send the Comets home happy. Senior Scott Klever pitched 11 innings before sophomore Joshua Galloway closed things out in relief. Rhett Durbin went 2-4 in the contest. The Comets advance to play Wayne in the District Finals on Saturday at 11:00 am at Fairmont. Their record stands at 11-18 overall.

The Comet baseball team made it four district titles (baseball, softball, girls and boys track) in 4 days with their extra inning 1-0 defeat of Wayne on Monday at Fairmont. The win was unexpected, but not surprising considering Mason's postseason performance this spring. As the #19 seed in the Division 1 sectional, few gave them a chance to go far in the tournament after compiling a regular season record of 8-18. But after 4 sraight postseason wins, including their first District title since 2006, the Comets can certainly be classifed as the "Cinderalla" team of the tourney. Mason achieved their latest accomplishment with outstanding hitting, stout defense and timely hitting. Sophomore Josh Galloway threw eight innings of shutout baseball, allowing only two hits and striking out 7. The defense made the plays behind Galloway to stifle the Warriors and send the contest to extra innings. In the bottom the eighth Rhett Durbin (2-3,) led off with a double. Chris Grable running for Durbin later scored on a sacrifice line drive by Scott Klever for the games only run. Mason will advance to the regional semifinals on Thursday and will ironically face the last team who swept them May 8th in a double header (Lasalle). Sixteen Division 1 OHSAA teams are vying for a 2010 State Championship. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m at the University of Cincinnati. Ticket prices are $6.00. |

won | 11-6 | 13-18 | 7-11 | stats | Mason Baseball Team Advances to Elite Eight Fourth Time is the Charm Against LaSalle The postseason run of the Mason baseball team continued Thursday evening as the Comet's soundly defeated LaSalle in the Regional Semifinals at Marge Schott Field on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. After three previous losses to the Lancers during the regular season, the Comets put on an offensive show winning by a final score of 11-6 and gaining a berth in the Regional Finals. Scott Klever pitched a complete game getting his 5th win of the season. Klever, a senior, added two RBIs and scored three runs in the contest while sophomore teammate Josh Galloway was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with 4 RBI. The Comets came back from a 1st inning 1-0 deficit and never trailed again. Mason put the game away with a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 5th giving them a 6 run cushion. Other hitting leaders included Freshman Connor McVey (3-4, 3 RBI), senior Rhett Durbin (2-4, 3 runs scored) and 2 hits by junior Ben Thamann. Durbin made the defensive play of the game in the 5th inning with a diving catch in left field with the bases loaded with Lancers. The Comets are one of 8 teams remaining in the OHSAA Division 1 tournament. They will face the #1 seeded Moeller Crusaders in the Regional Finals, this Friday at 5:00 PM at UC. Mason's last appearance in a regional title game was 1991. Moeller, the defending State Champion, is the No. 1 ranked team in Ohio and No. 3 in the Nation. The Crusaders defeated Centerville by a score of 8-4 to advance, improving their record to a lofty 28-1. The Comets have won five straight tournament games, four coming against higher seeds, and improved their record to 13-18. Congratulations to all the players and coaches....GO COMETS! |

The defending state champion Crusaders were not to be denied another trip to the State Final Four as the Comets were making their first appearance in a Regional title game since 1991. Mason had put together a string of 5 consecutive tournament wins enrroute to their matchup up with the states No. 1 team. Mason’s only run came in the top of the third when David Baker’s run-scoring double brought home Ben Thamann to make it 2-1. The Comets finish the season with an overall record of 13-19. With a roster full of young talent the future looks promising for the Mason Baseball program. Congratulations to all the coaches and players! |

Aggressive baserunning and timely hits helped Mason score 5 runs against West's tough defense. Mason answered with Margo Hutchison and Amanda Allen scoring in the second with DJ Engelman helping drive in one of those runs. Mason held a 2-1 lead until the sixth inning when Jillian Richardson and Claire Wehby came up with some big base hits to expand Mason's lead to 5-1. Kristin Pursel also had a double in the inning to drive in a run. The Comets were lead defensively by Christin Miller, pitching a complete game and only allowing 3 hits. Claire Wehby also had some great defensive plays throughout the game. Mason will visit Princeton on Wednesday, April 14th. |

Senior Christin Miller pitches a perfect game on Wednesday night April 14th as the Comets smash Princeton by a score of 9-0. "It's the first perfect game by a Mason pitcher that I can remember since I've been coaching here," according to head coach Brian Castner. Miller recorded 15 strikeouts in the game out of the 21 batters she faced. The Comet defense was also "pefect" in perserving Miller's win. Christin was also a hitting leader in the contest going 4 for 5 at the plate. The Comets are currently 6-1 in the GMC and 9-5 overall. They will host Colerain on Friday, April 16th. |

Margo went 3 for 4 for the day with two RBIs. Mason hitters broke open the score in the 5th scoring seven runs. Other strong performances at the plate were Christin Miller and Claire Wehby both having two hits each. Christin Miller get the win with 14 strikeouts and giving up only 3 hits. Mason continued to look strong at the plate. Amanda Allen had two hits including a two run homerun and a double. DJ Engleman also had two hits with a double. Olivia Hutchison did a great job coming in off the bench and having two singles and driving in a run. The league leading Comets boost their GMC record to 12-1 and overall record to 15-5. Next up the girls have a big crosstown showdown at Lakota West on Friday, April 30th as the two schools battle for GMC supremacy. |

Amy Allen put down a sacrifice bunt to cause another Lakota error that scored both Miller and Wehby. The Comets played solid defense with some great plays in the field by Claire Webhy and Caitlin Rausch, to hold off West and secure the shut out. Northmont drew first blood scoring two unearned runs in the third. It stayed that way until the seventh inning when the Comets tied the game with two runs of their own and sending it to extra innings. In the eighth Jill Richardson started the frame with a triple. She would later score on a base hit bunt by Amanda Allen. The Comets added an insurance run on Olivia Hutchison's RBI. Christin Miller shut down Northmont in their half of the inning and the rest was history. Miller had a strong game from the mound striking out 12 and allowing only 4 hits. Kristin Pursel led Mason at the plate going 3-4 with a double and triple.

Margo Hutchinson drilled a two-out line drive to center that the West fielder made an over -the-shoulder catch saving two runs. West managed to push across the games only run in the 5th inning. Chrisin Miller ended her standout career with an excellent pitching effort from the mound. Mason ends theirs historic season with an overall record of 22-7. The Mason tennis team finished 3rd overall at the GMC Tennis tourmanment on Saturday, May 8th behind 1st place Sycamore and 2nd place Lakota East. The Comets final finish in the overall conferenenc standing for 2010 was fourth place. See results below: 1st Singles: Miguel Cepeda, the fourth seed, took 4th place. In fewer than 4 hours, he had to play the following matches. Beat Burbank from Lakota West in three sets. Lost to Meuck, the champion from Lakota East in two sets. Lost to Nagle from Princeton in a pro-set. That is a lot of highly competitive tennis in a short period of time. Well done. Last year, our 1st singles spot took 6th place. 2nd Singles: Trevor Maxim won his first match against Oak Hills’ Vanderwalle; then lost to the #2 seed, Regenold from Princeton. He won his next match against Samuels from Colerain. He then beat Page from Fairfield for 5th place. Last year, our 2nd singles placed 8th. 3rd Singles Vincent Hsu won his first match against the 4thseed, Ferchen from Princeton. He then lost to the #1 seed, Stern from Sycamore. He lthen lost to Lang, the third seed, from Lakota West. He came in fourth place. Last year, 3rd singles came in 4th. 1st Doubles Erik Waters/John Mostowy, the third seeds, won their first match against Bent/Roy from Princeton. They lost against the #2 seeds of Jones/Samarakoon from Lakota West. They beat the #4 seeds, Witzman/Abunku from Lakota East for third place. Doubles came in third last year. 2nd Doubles David Speier/Colin Heim, the third seeds, won their first match against Smith/Byrne from Oak Hills. Then, they won their next match against the #2 seeds of Nouffler/Fraley of Lakota East. They played and lost to the championship team and #1 seeds, Kaplan/Grandhi from Sycamore. Last year, second doubles also came in second place. Next up Sectional play begins at Mason Middlet School Tennis courts on Tuesday, May 11th with semi-final and final matches to be played on Saturday, May 15th. After 12 long and glorious hours of tennis, Mason has three players qualifying for districts. Miguel Cepeda at singles and Trevor Maxim and Vince Hsu at doubles. All players won their first round at sectionals. Miguel, seeded 4th, played in the first round of matches at 8:00 am and played the last match of the day finishing at 8:10 pm. Along the way he beat Zaman from Moeller, Burbank from Lakota West and Sherba from Talawanda. On Saturday, he will play Mueck, first seed, from Lakota East in the semis. Colin Heim beat Clawson from Loveland, then lost to Freddie Abunku from Lakota East, the 3rd seed . David Speier beat Patterson from Moeller, then lost to Leo from Kings. Trevor Maxim and Vince Hsu beat Giles/Trelor from Loveland, then beat Lange/Merchem from Milford. They then won a three-set match from the fourth seeds from Lakota West, Jones/Samakaroon. They will play the #1 seeds from Princeton, Naugle/Regenold on Saturday in the semis. Erik Waters and John Mostowy won by default against Hamilton. They lost to the third seeds from Sycamore, Maxwell/Jungerwirth. Mason will host St. Xavier in the State Team Tournament today,, May 12th at 4:00 pm weather permitting. Mason Tennis Team Sends Three To State! It was another great day on the Mason tennis courts on Thursday afternoon. Miguel Cepeda seeded third from the Mason Sectional beat Hirsch Matani from St. X who was seeded 2 from the Cincinnati Sectional. Miguel beat Matani 6 – 0, 6 -1 in the first round of matches. In round two, Miguel played Brad Boll from Centerville who was seeded first from the Centerville Sectional. Miguel lost the first set 0 – 6. He then played a close second set, with each player breaking the other’s serve. Finally, Miguel triumphed and won the second set 6 – 4. In the third set, Miguel was up 5 – 3 with Boll serving at 15 - 30 when Miguel climbed the fence for a shot and came down hard on his left leg. He suffered extreme cramping. He took his injury time-out and was able to resume playing. He dug down deep and was able to close to win the match at 6 – 3 in the third set. By winning both matches Miguel is a State Qualifier. Meanwhile, our doubles team of Trevor Maxim and Vincent Hsu, who were seeded fourth from the Mason Sectional played Colin Imwalle and Dave Scher from Vandalia Butler who were seeded first out of the Troy Sectional. Trevor and Vince won 6 – 2; 6 – 4. In the second round they played Jared Lonsbury and Stuart Schneiderman from Centerville who were seeded second out of the Centerville Sectional. Trevor and Vince won the first set in a tiebreaker with a 7-4 score. Then, they closed the second set with a 6 – 2 victory. Again, by winning both matches today, Trevor and Vince are State qualifiers. The Comets will play on Saturday, 5/22 at 9:30 at Mason for seeding purposes. It would be a great tribute to these players if all players and parents came out to see these guys in action. History is being made in Mason boys’ tennis! Come and enjoy being in the moment! |

Mason tennis players Miguel Cepeda and the doubles team of Trevor Maxim and Vincent Hsu competed in the State Tennis Championships last week. It was a high honor for these players to qualify and represent Mason at the highest level of competition and where every aspiring player hopes to finish their season. Miguel Cepeda lost in the first round to Ethan Dunbar, senior from Lodi Cloverleaf. 0 - 6 1-6 Dunbar won two rounds and was knocked out by the eventual chamption Metka. Trevor Maxim and Vincent Hsu also lost in the first round to Evan Bechtel (11)/Ryan Jorgensen (11) from Toledo St. John's Jesuit. 1 - 6 2 - 6. The Toledo St. John's team came in 3rd place. The meet this weekend was a good one for the Men of Mason.
The pole vaulters won their relay, with Ben Van Winkle leading the way, and Tom Grant led the way in a strong showing the discus event. Overall, the team had a very balanced attack, and look to be a tough to beat in future weeks. Taylor Celestin, Junior Mapati, Matt Kincaid, Alex Hamm and Andrew Gaylan-Mann were all standouts in their events, and several others had strong days as well. It was a great start to the season.

| 4/7-4/9 | COACHES CLASSIC | 1st place (32 teams) | This weekend at the Coaches Classic the men of Mason stepped up big! The team took home the City Championships at the annual Coaches Classic Invite. We had huge performances turned in by Taylor Celestin in the 110 Hurdles, Matt Kahl in the 1600 and the Men of the 4x200 relay, including Junior Mapati, Caleb Eastham, Scott Strait and Marlon Bryan. All of these men were winners in their respective events. We also had several 2nds, 3rds and 4ths. The team won on the strength of their team effort and overall depth. We had 1-2 scores in almost every event outside of a few. The score was a strong showing with the team winning by over 25 points, and nearly doubling the city rival of LaSalle. It was a great showing by the men, and we look for great things this year when this team is up to full strength. The boys will particiapte in the Warrior Relays at Lebanon on Friday, April 16th. |

2nd place | The Men of Mason had great weekend. They traveled to Louisville to compete in the Eastern Relays. A 2 day meet that was loaded with talent from 5 states. The team started off strong with a big win and a 9th best time in the country in the 4x1600. They were led by Matt Kincaid, and followed by Matt Kahl, Zach Wills and Eric Hauser. They had strong showings in the 2000 steeple, the Sprint Medley relay and the Mile Medley, with school records in each, including Ronnie Ipach in the 2000 Steeple who placed 2nd overall. On Saturday our top placers were Taylor Celestin in the 110 hurdles, Alex Hamm in the High Jump and 400 dash and Tom Grant in the Discus. Several others also did well including the members of a few key relays. Scott Strait, Junior Mapati, Charles Dunn and Andrew Greenfield. Overall the team came in 2nd place, however 4 events that are generally good ones for the Comets were not finished due to lightning in the area. |
| 4/30 | at Wayne Invite | 4th place | The Wayne Invitational was an epic adventure according to head coach Chip Dobson. The meet began at 3:30pm on April 30th and ended on May 1st at 1:00 am making for a long, but still profitable day for the Comets. Mason had a winning 4x800 relay with Kincaid, Hauser, Kahl and Honaker, a 3rd Place Long Jumper in Brad Zinnecker and a 3rd place hurdler in Taylor Celestin. Zach Wills returned to form in the 3200 winning in strong fashion with Matt Kahl not far behind in 4th. The Comets had several other strong showings including Tate Honaker in the 800, Andrew Gaylan Mann in the 300 Hurdles and Hamm, Mapati, Zinnecker and Gaylan Mann in the 4x400 relay. Overall the team placed 4th, but was only a few points from winning it all. The event was a strong showing for our team and a nice regional preview. Next up the Comets will host the Rod Russell Invitational at Atrium Stadium on Friday, May 7th. |
| 5/5 | Kings Invite | 1st place | Wednesday night the Men of Mason took a "split squad" to the Kings Invite. It was a great weekday meet, and the boys stepped up well. Mason entered 1 of our top athletes in most every event and a few "loaded" relays. The Comets competed well, and won the meet over Turpin and West by a good total. Top performers were Junior Mapati in the 300 hurdles, Tate Honaker in the 800 run, tom Grant in the discus and in the pole vault and Wyatt Lowdermilk won as well. Adam Court, Ben Sawyers and Alex Hamm were all 2nd in their events. And the men of the 4x200 relay lit up the track with a new best time this season. It was a great meet and the men looked primed and ready to go for the meet Friday night at home. Next up the Rod Russell Invite at Mason. |
| 5/7 | ROD RUSSELL INVITE | 1st place | The men's track team of Mason were not very good hosts on Friday night, winning handily their own meet (Rod Russell Invite) by an overwhelming total. The event was loaded with talent and the Comets lit up the stadium and the competition proving they are one of the elite track programs in the state. There were many Mason highligts...see below: Taylor Celestin smashed his own 110 meter hurdle record, the 4x800 meter relay won, Alex Hamm won the High Jump, the Men of the 4x200 relay placed 1st, Tom Grant won the Discus, and our 4x400 relay won as well. Zach Wills and Matt Kahl went 1-2 in the 3200, and we took a number of solid 2nd places as well. Next up the Mason will host the GMC Championships on Wednesday, May 12th and Friday, May 14th.. The Comets will look to once again dominate the meet and try to win their 3rd consecutive title. |

| 5/14 | GMC CHAMPIONSHIPS | 1st | The Men of Mason had a great meet. The GMC Championship meet was a great night for the Comets! They set 4 new school records, won all 4 relays and won several individual events as well. The time of the 4x200 relay is now one of the top in the state, along with the 4x800 relay. The boys also went 1-2 in the 400, and 1-3 in the 3200. Alex Hamn, Chris Lehman in the 400, and Eric Hauser and Matt Larcomb in the 3200. We also had a record setting night in the pole vault, with Matt Mitchell and Wyatt Lowdermilk going 1-2 in the scoring, and having a great night. The team scores were not close, but several races were, and our men battled for every last point. A special treat was given to the fans, with Scott Strait battling down the last 100 meters in the 4x100 relay to inch out the Middies anchor leg. The crowd rose to their feet and roared as Scott took him at the line!! It was a true team effort with nearly 20 men recieving GMC first, second or third team honors. |

1st place | Comet Track Teams Sweep Districts The Mason boys and girls track teams marched on in postseason competition winnning District Championships and advancing on to the Regional meet on. Wednesday and Friday at Dayton's Welcome Stadium. Both Mason teams outistanced their neearest competitors by almost 50 points. Full results can be viewed at www.baumspage.com. The boys team set 2 district records (4x200 and 4x400) and 4 school records at the District meet on Friday. The team was on fire! It started with the 110 Hurdles where Taylor Celestin won in strong fashion. The 4x200 of Mapati, Eastham, Hamm, Strait and set a new district record in front of the home crowd. The 1600 saw senior Matt Kahl advance on with the win. The 4x100 escaped near disaster with a bad exchange, but their speed and power overcame the issue, and they qualified anyway! Chris Lehman won the 400, after just missing last year, and Taylor Celestin won again in the 300 hurdles with Andrew Gaylan Mann just missing the coveted 4th spot. Tate Honaker put on a show in the 800 and took 2nd. The 3200 run was a clinic, where Wills and Hauser went one-two. For the first time in several years, the men also qualified an indivudal in the 200 meter dash in Scotty Strait. The men also did very well in the field events, with Brad Zinnecker, Tom Grant, Alex Hamm Wyatt Lowdermilk and Matth Mitchell all moving on to regionals. Last, but not least was the 4x400 relay, where Hamm, Lehman, Mapati and Gaylan Mann crushed the field with a new district record time to take the win. It was a great meet, and the men really stepped up with a huge effort.

| 4/7-4/9 | COACHES CLASSIC | 1st place (32 teams) | Over spring break while many students were relaxing and taking some time off the Mason's girls track team was busy winning another Coaches Classic Track Championship. The Lady Comets won their ninth consecutive Coaches Classic Championship as the Mason depth proved to much for the competition. Mason junior Brittany Betts won four first-place medals. Betts won the girls' 100- and 200-meter dashes and helped the Comets triumph in the 400- and 800-meter relay events. Mason won three of the four relays contested Friday, also taking the 3,200. Kera Lamotte and Sarah Hunter ran on both the 400 and 800 teams with Betts, Tiwa Akomolede joining them on the 400 team, and Jami Pfeifer ran on the 800 team. Brenna Hallum, Chelsea Vanhook, Meredith Touby and Bridget McElhenny made up the 3,200 relay team. The 4x800 meter relay consisting of Chelsea Vanhook, Meredith Touby, Bridget McElhenny, and Brenna Hallum earned first place. The 4x200 meter relay consisting of Jami Pheifer, Sarah Hunter, Brittany Betts and Kiera Lamotte achieved a first place finish. Mason's 4x100 meter relay Sarah Hunter, Kiera Lamotte, Tiwa Akomolede, and Brittany Betts also earned first place. Jessica Harrison finished second in the 3200 meter run. The Mason boy's Lacrosse team upended the visiting St. Xavier Bombers on Wednesday night, April 14th by a final score of 8-7. St. X came into the contest as the top ranked team in Cincinnati. The Comets (ranked No. 2 in the city) played great overall defense and got exceptional play marking St. defenders when they had the ball. "This was a big win for the program and a great win for these kids," said head coach Randy Hubbard. "They have worked hard and this was one of their goals." St. Xavier is a perennial powerhouse and is currently ranked No. 5 in the State of Ohio. Mason held St. X scoreless the last three minutes of the game even though the Comets were playing a man down. Josh Puckett led Mason in scoring with three goals in the contest. Ian Hammeran and Matt Bertrams each added an assist and a goal. Keeper Scott Spencer recorded 15 saves. "Now lets hope we can keep it rolling and achieve all the goals they have set for this year," said Hubbard. The Comet record on the season goes to 6-1 overall. Next up for Mason is an away game at Mariemont on Saturday, April 17th.

The Mason came from a 5-4 deficit and scored 8 unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter to put the AVES away. The team was lead by Josh Puckett, Shannon Slattery, and Matt Bertrams all with 3 goals. Derek Henson and Ian Hammeran both added 2 goals, while Jordan Barnes, Nick Lewis, Andrew Roussos, and Chris Richardson each aded 1 goal each. The defensive effort was led by Gabe Shreve, Jacob Lucky, and Eric Hust, while Scott Spencer had another great game in the goal. Zach Schaefer also was key winning 6 of 6 face-offs and Hayden Novicki led the team with ground balls. The Comets will check the next team off the list this Saturday at home against St. X. Get all your friends together and come out and support the Mens lacrosse team as the play for a spot in the State Final 4! |

won | 13-9 | 18-1 | stat link | The men's lacrosse team were crowned the REGIONAL CHAMPIONS on Saturday as they defeated the St. X bombers for the second time this season by a score of 13-9. The Comets move to 18-1 and are on their way to the FINAL FOUR!! The Comets will meet up with the #1 Team in the state, the Upper Arlington Golden Bears on Wednesday June 2 at 7:30pm at Upper Arlington High School. This is the first time the comets have advanced to the Final Four and we are hoping to bring home the State Championship by the end of the week. The Comets were led by Ian Hammeran with 2 goals and 4 assists, Jordan Barnes with 1 goal and 5 assists, Josh Puckett with 2 goals, Shannon Slattery with 2 goals, and Derek Henson with 2 goals. Andrew Roussos, Alex Engen, Matt Bertrams, and Nick Lewis all added 1 goal each. Scott Spencer had another outstanding game in the goal with 11 saves, while Gabe Shreve, Jacob Lucky, Eric Hust, Hayden Novicki, and Brad Carley all had great defensive games. The Comets have accomplished many 1st this season including beating St. X (2 times), Sycamore(2 times), and Indian Hill. This was the first year that the comets have defeated Moeller, St. X, Sycamore, Indian Hill, and Mariemont all in the same season. This is also the first time the comets have advanced past the 1st round of the tournament on their way to a #3 State Ranking and a #69 Ranking in the Nation. |

Mason trailed Upper Arlington 3-0 at the restart with less than 4 minutes remaining in the 1st period. Unforunately the Comets were not able rebound falling to the Golden Bears by a final score of 13-3. Senior attack Jordan Barnes had two scores for the Comets. Senior goalie Scott Spencer had nine saves. Mason finished 18-2 overall. The boy's lacrosse program had a historic season with their best-ever overall record (18-2), regional title and trip to the State Final Four. Congratulations to all the players and coaches! |

| 4/8 | Washington DC Trip | 2-2-1 | The girl's lacrosse team spent their spring break in Washington D.C. where they played 4 contests. Although not the record we would have liked (1-2-1), the objectives of the trip were met. The objectives were so baseline our performance against some of the best girls lacrosse competition we could find and we had to go to Washington D.C. to do that. In D.C. the best team we would face was Loyola Academy from Chicago ironically enough, Loyola was travelling and wanted good games so they asked us to meet them there to play. The girls fought hard and played well but in the end yielded to Loyola 12-5. Senior Captain Madi Gilmore led all scorers with 1 goal and 3 assists while fellow Senior Jaime Swigart (2 G), and Junior attack Sam Dunn (1 G, 1A), added two points each. Loyola Academy came into the game as the defending Illinois State Champion and currently undefeated and top ranked team in Illinois this year. In game two we faced the top team in Georgia, Milton H.S. and came out strong in the first half of play leading 9-3 at the half but yielded that lead in the second half and lost 16-14. Senior Captain Madi Gilmore once again led all scorers with 6 points on 2 goals and 4 assists, senior Jaime Swigart was second with 4 points (4 G), and Sophomore Courtney Curtis added 3 points as well on 3 goals. In game 3 the girls put everything together and defeated a very good Stone Ridge School 8-7 in a game that was characterized by heavy defensive pressure all over the field. The Mason redefend was solid as was the defense led by Juniors Jen Curry, Payton Laws and Amari-Agee Bell. Laws filled in nicely for Senior starter Chloe Colton who had been injured in the Milton game. Senior Jaime Swigart took over the scoring role in this game and led all scorers with 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist, she was followed by Madi Gilmore with 4 points on 1 goal and 3 assists and Junior Samantha Dunn was third in scoring with 3 points on 3 goals. Trista Kuehn earned her second win in goal. In game 4 Mason faced a solid Holy Child Academy team and came away with a tie that almost wasn't. In the final seconds Mason was awarded a penalty shot; however, the Holy Child goalies stepped up big and iced the game that ended in a tie 13-13. Senior Jaime Swigart showed why she is earned all-state and all-american last year by leading all scorers with 8 point on 8 goals. Senior Co-Captain Allison Cryder stepped up big from the midfield to add 3 points on 3 goals, and 5 others had one point each. The trip met its goals because the players have now seen the competition level they can expect to see in the second round of the playoffs and beyond this year. The goal is still to make the final four and the team feels like they have learned what they need to do to make that goal a reality by competing as they did this past weekend. Next up the Comets will visit Anderson on Wednesday, April 14th. |

Senior Co-Captain Madi Gilmore and fellow senior attack Sami Peterson worked their magic together around the goal crease with Madi scoring 5 points on 5 goals, 3 of them assisted by Peterson who was second in scoring with 4 points adding a goal of her own. Senior Co-Captain Allison Cryder also added 3 goals. The Mason girls defense led by senior Chloe Colton, and Juniors Amari Agee-Bell and Jen Curry, maintained pressure on the Anderson attack all night while Goalie Trista Kuehn earned her 3rd win. The Mason Girls Junior Varsity Team also won their game 11-6. Next up the Lady Comets visit Loveland on Thursday, April 15th. |

Mason soundly defeated Loveland 16-5 bringing the Varsity record to 4-2-1 on the season (no JV game was held). With 3 starters on the bench with injuries, co-captain Madi Gilmore stepped up again and led all scorers with 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists, and as with the previous game senior attack Sami Peterson was right behind her with 4 points on 2 goals and 2 assists. Senior Co-Captain Alli Cryder and sophomore midfielder Courtney Curtis each had 3 goals for the Comets. 3 other players had 2 goals each (Jamie Lawson, Falon Manns, and Belle Teesdale), and the Comet defense stepped up to limit Loveland's star midfielder, Katie Jarvis, to 3 points on the night. Tori Muilenburg earned her first win in goal with 5 saves on the night. The Comets next meet Worthington Kilbourne on Saturday April 17th in Columbus at the Hannigan tournament at Thomas Worthington H.S. |

Girls Lacrosse team met Kentucky's top ranked team, Kentucky Country Day, and chalked up win #5 by a final score of 10-9. Three Mason players led in scoring with 3 points each. Senior Midfielder Jaime Swigart and Sophomore Attack Samantha Dunn had 3 goals each, while Senior Co-Captain Madi Gilmore had 1 goal and 2 assists. Both Tori Muilenburg and Trista Kuehn shared goaltending duties equally in the game to hold off the senior heavy KCD attack. |

On Saturday, April 17th, the girls Lacrosse team traveled to Columbus to play in the annual Hannigan-Galipault tournament and met Worthington Kilbourne in their first game. The game ended in a tie 5-5 as their are no overtime games permitted in tournament play. Senior Jaime Swigart led all scorers with 4 points on 2 goals and 2 assists. Three others had 1 point on goals (Senior's Madi Gilmore and Sami Peterson, and Sophomore Courtney Curtis). The low score of the game was primarily due to solid defense on both sides. The Comet defense was led by Senior Chloe Colto and Juniors Amari Agee-Bell and Jen Curry. Trista Kuehn had 8 saves in goal for Mason. In game 2 Mason met Quaker Valley, a team from Western Pennsylvania, and came away with a 7-5 win. Jaime Swigart again led all scorers with 5 points on 5 goals essentially having her way with the Quakers defense. Madi Gilmore added a goal and 2 assists for 3 points of her own. Tori Muilenburg had 8 saves and her first win in goal for the Comets. The girls meet arch rival Lakota West on Tuesday April 20th at home. |

| 4/20 | LAKOTA WEST | won | 10-5 | Mason Girls Lacrosse added to their winning ways with a 10-5 win over Lakota West at home on Tuesday night. Once again Senior Co-Captain Madi Gilmore led all scorers with 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist. Fellow Seniors Jaime Swigart (3G) and Sami Peterson (2G1A) added 3 points each for the Comets. Trista Kuehn made a couple of key saves in the last 10 minutes to hold off Lakota West's desperate attempt to get back into the game. With 8 minutes left the Comets iced the game with another goal and held on for the win. The Comet defense was aggressive all over the field causing key turnovers in both the midfield as well as the defensive end of the field. Amari Agee-Bell led the Comets with 4 ground ball recoveries to help maintain possession when they needed it the most. The Comets next meet the Mt Notre Dame Cougars at home on Thursday night, April 22nd. The Junior Varsity started the night off right with a decisive win over Lakota as well. This set the tone for the varstity game. |

Senior Attack Sami Peterson led all scorers with 4 points (1G, 3A), and Co-Captain Madi Gilmore was second with 3 points on goals. 5 other players contributed in the scoring that seemed to be coming from everywhere, especially late in the game as the Eagles faded. Sam Dunn, Kristy Dezenzo, Belle Teesdale, Courtney Curtis, and Falon Manns all had one goal each to keep the pressure on New Albany and ice away the win. Trista Kuehn and Tori Muilenburg shared goaltending duties and the win. |

The game went down to the last minute as Sycamore held on for the win. Leading in scoring for the Comets was Senior Co-Captain Madi Gilmore with 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist.. Madi has been coming up big for the Comets all season long and last night was business as usual. Right behind her with 3 points on 2 goals and 1 assist was Junior Attack Samantha Dunn. Senior Attack Sami Peterson, and Senior Midfielder Jaime Swigart had 2 points each. The girls record slips to 6-4-2 on the eason and will face a tough Ursuline team when they visit the Lions on May 4th. |

Leading all scorers was senior midfielder Jaime Swigart with 5 points on 3 goals and 2 assists. Right behind Swigart, tied for second with 3 points each, were 2 other seniors, Co-Captains Madi Gilmore (1G,2A), and midfielder Allison Cryder (3G). The seniors were not done there, third in scoring with 2 points each were seniors Sami Peterson (2G), and Chloe Colton (2G) as well as junior midfielder Kristy Dezenzo (1G, 1A). Five seniors played and five seniors topped the scoring chart, but what made it most remarkable was that Chloe Colton is not an offensive player. With the Lady Comets up by 10 goals in the second half, Colton was inserted into the attack and scored 2 quick goals in a position she has never played! The defense was stout with Colton, Amari Agee-Bell and Jen Curry in front of goalie Trista Kuehn. Trista had 8 saves on 13 shots for a 61% save percentage on the evening. The Lady Comets open tournament play on May 19th at 7:00 pm at home against St Ursula Academy. Their record is 14-5. |

The Mason defense led by Senior Chloe Colton and Juniors Jen Curry and Amari Agee-Bell, turned away 70% of the offensive attempts by St Ursula while Sophomore Goaltender Trista Kuehn had 7 saves to notch the win in goal. Sycamore won the first half and Mason won the second, but ultimately it was Sycamore who advances in the postseason. The Mason defense held Sycamore's two first team All-State players, Erin Doherty and Taylor Young to a total of 5 goals, but couldn't find the answer for Hannah Kelp who scored 8 to lead the Lady Aves. Leading scoring for Mason was sophomore Courtney Curtis with 4 points on 3 goals and 1 assist. Behind Curtis was balanced scoring across the board with 3 players scoring 2 points, Seniors Madi Gilmore, Jaime Swigart, Sami Peterson and Juniors Sam Dunn, Kristy Dezenzo, and Falon Manns each added a point.
