8/31 | Anderson | lost | 35-12 | 0-2 | 0-0 | Not many highlights in the Comet loss to the Redskins. Anderson's victory was a first over Mason in the past serveral years. Andy Proter and Grant Lewis scored TDs for Mason. Mychael Bembry rushed for 84 yards on 22 carries.
9/7 | Withrow | lost | 31-25 | 0-3 | 0-0 | The Comets had the ball the entire third quarter as they recovered two consecutive onside kicks en route to scoring 21 unanswered points and taking a 25-21 fourth-quarter lead. Withrow regained the lead with four minutes left on a 70-yard touchdown strike from Juandez Brown to Darrion Brown, and capped the game with a field goal.
9/13 | Colerain (Thu.) | lost | 35-14 | 0-4 | 0-1 | The Comets got a rude welcoming to the GMC by the visiting Cardianals. With 52 consecutive GMC wins under their belt it really hasn't mattered to Colerain who they were playing. Unfortunately for the Green and White they had the challenging task of facing a nationally ranked powerhouse before a huge crowd, broadcast by Fox Sports. The Cardinals got on the board early with a touchdown by Dominic Sherrer (3 TD's) 1:45 into the contest. It was 28-0 at half but the Comets scored two late TD's against the always tough Colerain defense on short runs by Andy Porter and Patrick Koman.
9/21 | Fairfield | won | 21-12 | 1-4 | 1-1 | Comets First GMC Win The Comets methodical offensive attack dominated the game possessing the ball for 32 of the 48 minutes helping Mason to their first win of the season. Mason's offense set the tone for the game with a 16-play, 81 yard scoring drive on their first possesion capped off by Andy Porter's two-yard scoring plunge. Leading 14-12 with 9:31 remaining the Comet offense produced another clock killing seven minute drive to effectively put the game out of reach. Junior running back Mike Bembry rushed for 231 yards on 32 carries. |
|
9/28 | Lakota East | lost | 27-20 | 1-5 | 1-2 | The Comets created 364 yards of offense, but suffered three turnovers that led to three East TD's in the loss. After being behind the entire game Mason tied it at 20 all with approx. 5 minutes to play in the 4th quarter on a Patrick Koman 14-yard TD run. The Comets got the ball back with less than three minutes to play but lost the ball on their own 19. East scored the winning TD with 15 seconds left in the contest. Mychael Bembry rushed for 114 yards on 20 carries and 1 TD. Tyler Kuehn kicked 20 and 28 yard field goals.
10/5 | Princeton | lost | 35-7 | 1-6 | 1-3 | Not many highlights in a loss to the No. 4 rated team in the city. Mychael Bembry rushed for Mason's lone TD (22 carries, 92 carries). No other information available.
10/12 | Oak Hills | won | 21-0 | 2-6 | 2-3 | Comets Defense Shuts Down Highlanders The Mason Comets defense pitched a shutout against Oak Hills potent offense allowing only 184 yards of total offense. Mason's Tony Xu led the charge accumlating 12 tackles. Running back Alex Martinez gained 102 yards on 20 carries and a TD. QB Patrick Koman threw a TD and ran for another. |
|
10/19 | Middletown | won | 47-46 | 3-6 | 3-3 | The Mason Comets win a "see-saw" shootout against the Middies. Patrick Komans 14 yard pass to Mychael Bembry with 14 seconds remaining in the game allowed the Comets to get within one after fallling behind 46-45. Bembry's two point conversion run lifted Mason to victory.
10/26 | Sycamore | lost | 21-7 | 3-7 | 3-4 | Battle of the Sky Goes to the Aves The Comets drew first blood on a Koman 35-yard pass to Grant Lewis. But the Aves air attack went to work scoring 3 unanswered passing TD's. Mason's offense outgained the Aves in total yardage 224-213. Mychael Bembry finished with 4 catches for 76 yards and along with 68 yards on the ground. |

The Comets were led by returning lettermen Eric Prater (73) and Logan Long (78). The most exciting event that took place at this tournament was the scores of two first time varsity players Soph. Philip Kester (75) and Jr. Ryan Rocheck (80). The two rookies shook off the "first tee" jitters early and posted numbers that helped the Comets to an impressive 4th place finish against a very strong field. All-Tourney Team |

Junior Kevin Bohn led the Comets with a solid round (40). He fired two birdies and struck the ball extremely well, unfortunately his putter let him down. His 4 over par round included four 3 putt greens. Senior Eric Prater also played very well with the exception of a disastrous 9 on the par 5 number five. The Comets will host LaSalle on Sept. 4. The first tee time is scheduled for 3:30 pm at The Four Bridges CC. It should be an exciting match featuring two of the top ten teams in Cincinnati.

Comets Top Lancers!! Seniors Eric Prater (36) and Jeff Stephens (37) led the Comets to their biggest victory of the year over LaSalle one of the premiere teams in the city. Sophomore Brennan Kallmyer fired his best round of the year (39) in helping the Mason golfers post the win. We talked about how poorly we have been performing to this point in the season, and how many shots we were leaving on the course. Hopefully this win will get us moving in the right direction. We have the most important part of the season staring right at us. |

Junior Kevin Bohn fired a 1 under par 35
to lead the Comets past undefeated Sycamore at Four Bridges. He was
supported by senior Eric Prater who also had an outstanding round by
dropping two birdies on his way to an even par 36. The biggest surprise
of the day was turned in by freshman Evan Bryan. Evan playing in his
first varsity match battled the winds and nerves to post a very impressive
40. Junior Robert Elam was able to provide the fourth score with a 43.

The Comets took the future of the program

in this tournament were either a freshman or sophomore. The Comets were
led by sophomore Philip Kester who fired a 7 over par 79, which was
good enough for the all- tournament team. |

The Mason Varsity Golf Team ended their season with a disappointing loss to Elder. The victory over Anderson isn't as sweet because we have played Elder for the past several years and have yet to beat them. Junior Kevin Bohn recorded the best number for Mason by shooting a 3 over par 39. Kevin has been our most consistent player the past month of the season. He along with Eric Prater have been our scoring leaders all year.
