BOYS TRACK/FIELD EARNS 11TH STRAIGHT GMC TITLE!

This past Friday night the Mason Comets Boys Track/Field team found a way to win their 11th Greater Miami Conference title in a row!   The team has been through a lot of adversity this year, with key injuries and things just not breaking right, but those that were healthy and able, rallied together for a great evening!  The team won by a very slim margin of fewer than 10 points but did so with a full team effort.
In the field events, Davis Robey won the shot put and two sophomores scored some points in the high jump to help out the cause.  Our third best long jumper, Ben Josiah scored a few as well as did our #2 pole vaulter.

The Mason running events were as good as they could be.  The Comets won the 4 x 8 and the 4 x4 in dramatic fashion.  The hundred meter dash had Jaymon Penn and Josh Wright with season-best times scoring big points, and again in the 200 dash. The 400m dash featured Akari Porter running to an amazing 48.4 seconds, and winning in the final meters.  Carter Witmer Gautsch came up second in the 300 hurdles but only to be bested by the city leading hurdler and hundredths of a second.  Nick French was awesome in the 110 hurdles, nearly winning.

Lastly, the distance boys did their thing again delivering 46 big points! Abel Nijakowski and Michael Uematsu came up big as did the freshman Austin Cooper.

Overall, it was a tremendous team effort! Coach Dobson shared that he could not be more proud of the coaching staff and the athletes themselves.  It was a great night, a great crowd, and lots of fun!

Mason boys have now won the GMC title every year since entering the league in 2007-08.
