Grapplers win again

 

The Mason Comet Wrestling Team captured their third straight James V. Horning Invitational Title on an icy Saturday this past weekend. Mason had eight wrestlers finish 1st or 2nd with three individual champions (Jorge Gonzalez, Eoin Walden, and Jake Suess). Mason also had two individuals win their 100th career victories at the event; seniors Eoin Walden and Kyle McIntyre.

"We wrestled with alot of heart and passion today," said Mason head coach Craig Murnan. "This effort compensated for some of the technical mistakes that we made."

It was a great weekend for the Mason Wrestling program and all the alumni who returned for the event. Mason finished 1st overall with 276.5 points followed by Olentangy 203, Centerville 190, Fairmont 170.5 and Pickerington North 134 to round out the top 5 teams. "It was an honor to capture our 3rd straight JVH title with the kind of talent represented at this event," commented Murnan. "We will need to continue to improve from an execution stand point and eliminate mistakes if we want to accomplish our team goals at year end."

Mason is heading into a big week-end of duals and will face #3 ranked Lakota East and #1 ranked Moeller in a Super Tri Meet this Saturday at Moeller

"This will be a big week-end in order to create some momentum heading into the Month of Champions," said Murnan. Moeller is also ranked 15th in the national polls.
