Jansen Claims State Swim Title; Girls Finish 4th, Boys 9th

Sophomore Danielle Jansen captured the first girls swimming state title in school history in capturing the 200 yard freestyle championship. Danielle swam a personal best time of 1:48.52 to win the title. She followed up that performance by finishing runner-up in the 100 yard freestyle. Her performance helped the Girls Swim team finish an impressive fourth at the State Championships. Jansen was also a member of two relay teams that reached the finals.

The 200 yard medley relay team of Jansen, Kayle Wiemers, Sarah Burrell, and Morgan Parker finished fifth. The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Jansen, Parker, Cari Caprio, and Mary Wunderle placed fourth. The 200 yard freestyle team of Caprio, Parker, Burrell, and Wunderle finsihed sixth. Wunderle finished 15th in the 100 yard backstroke and 16th in the 200 yard IM.

On the boys side, Senior Spencer Hewes led the way to a ninth place team finish. Spencer finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke and fifth in the 200 yard IM. Brad Langford finished ninth in the 200 yard freestyle and Jared Kolwyck placed 12th in the 500 yard freestyle to back Hewes.

The relay team of Jonathon Joyce, Andy Supronas, Brandon Evans, and Langford reached the finals and placed eigth in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Evans, Supronas, Langford, and Hewes led the 400 yard freestyle relay team to a tenth place finish. Stephen Sargent checked in with a 14th place finish in 1 M diving.
