Katie DeBorde pitched a one-hit, complete game for the win. Elana Harrison had a line drive HR over right-center fence to get the comets bats going. Hannah Lea had a double to help keep the momentum going for the Comets. It was another great team effort win.
Mason Softball (25-3) will play a very familiar competitor in the Regional Semifinal on Wednesday. The Comets (#1 seed) and Firebirds (#2 seed) will meet for the third time this season for a chance to play for a Regional title on Saturday. The two GMC foes split their regular season games back in April with West winning 4-3 and Mason 11-2.
Game time is set for 5 pm at Centerville High School on Wednesday, May 23rd.
The Mason Boys Tennis team defeated St. Xavier 3-1 on Tuesday, and for the first time in program history has advanced to the OHIO TENNIS COACHES ASSOCIATION State Final Four.
Mason had been "knocking on the door" for the past 5 years, with consecutive losses to Sycamore in the SW District Final dating back to the 2013 season. Mason has been competing in the annual tourney since 2010. The Comets keep their "perfect season" (20-0) and #1 ranking in the state intact as the 2018 season comes to a climatic conclusion this weekend at the OHSAA and OTCA State Championships.
