Girls Soccer
The Mason Girls Soccer team rolled Over Middletown 8-0, Tuesday on Senior Night. It was a special night all the way around. Fairfield tied with Hamilton helping the Comets secure the 2018 GMC Championship! The outcome of Masn's final home game with FF this Thursday will be a non-factor as far as league standings since the Indians already have two ties on the season and Mason's record is unblemished in the GMC. This is Mason Girls Soccer first GMC title since 2014 and 7th overall since entering the GMC in 2007 (6 outright and 1 co-champ).

Mason dominated every aspect of the game against Middletown.  Seven of the 8 goals scored were scored by seniors on Senior Night.  Goals by Catherine Berry, Natalie Adkins, Jordan Massa, Mackenzie Berryman, and JuIia Shutrump ensured that every Senior has scored a goal this year.  Alison Winterhalter, Jenna Burns and Elizabeth Berry rounded out the scoring.  The entire Mason squad worked selflessly to make tonight special for all the seniors.  Six assists were delivered in the team effort, 2 by Catherine Berry and 1 each by Natalie Lanis, Alison Winterhalter, Tori Bonno, and Leah Shaw.  The Comets took all 6 corner kicks on the night and Middletown was called for 7 fouls to Mason's 4.  The Comets secured their 10th shutout in 14 games.  The overall team unity and comradery were special to watch and bode well for the Comets as they head into state tournament play.

The Comets will host the Fairfield Indians Thursday Night with hopes of finishing with a perfect 9-0 GMC record and knocking off the defending GMC champs, ranked #2 in the city and #10 in the state.

The #3 seeded Comets have a bye in the first round of the Sectional tournament and will play the winner of #18 seed Talawanda and #24 seed Princeton on Saturday, October 20th at Home at 7 PM.  Provided the Comets get past that second round match they will likely face either #6 seed  Anderson or #13 seed Hamilton on Tuesday, October 23rd at Sycamore HS at 7 PM for the Cincinnati 4 Sectional Title.
