Girls Golf
Mason Girls Golf earned their first state berth since the 2014 season on Tuesday at Glenview. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for the Southwest District golf tournament.  This was the day the Comets had been waiting for all year.  The course had a championship layout and the greens were cut and rolled to match it for speed.

After 9 holes, Mason was in 3rd place behind Centerville and Ursaline with Lakota East a couple strokes back.  Securing that top 3 spot for state was going to be a real nailbiter. But as things turned out, the ladies did what they have done all year long. The Comets dug deep and closed the deal.  Improving on the back 9, Mason jumped Ursuline and held off their GMC rival, Lakota East by two strokes to secure second place. Centerville was the overall winner, and District champs, firing a team score of 314.

Once again a different Comet stepped up to lead the scoring.  Freshman Ally Madden fired her best round of the year of 77.  Ally earned runner-up medalist honors and helped Mason punch that coveted ticket to the State.  Mason Girls will compete for their first state title since 2010 at The Ohio State University Golf Club Gray Course next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20.
