All-Ohio Honor is a Mason Football First!

The OHSAA All-State Football Selection committee confirmed this fall what Mason fans already knew…that Comet senior running back Matt Sora was one the 2017 seasons best!

Sora was recognized with a prestigious honor only afforded two players at his position as a First Team All-State recipient.  Sora is the first player ever to achieve first team all-state while wearing the green and white of Mason. Matt started all 35 games he played in throughout his varsity high school career.  Over those 35 games, he racked up 518 carries for 3148 yards and 39 touchdowns. In his senior year, Sora rushed the ball for 1327 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 6.3 yards per carry over the entire season.

Additionally, Sora was recognized as the 2017 GMC Offensive Player of the Year as a two-time first team all-conference selection who helped lead his Comets to a 9-3 record and a 6-2 GMC season, capped off by earning a coveted playoff spot.

Sora has made a football commitment to play at Indiana State in the fall of 2018.

“It’s a huge honor. It’s well earned, well-deserved, and I can’t say enough about him,” said Mason head coach Brian Castner.

Teammate, Said Hamdan, also collected postseason accolades by being named 2nd Team All-Ohio.

Congratulations to both of these
outstanding student-athletes!
