MASON FOOTBALL TO MAKE THIRD STRAIGHT
POST SEASON APPEARANCE ON FRIDAY
Mason secured a 3rd seed in the upcoming OHSAA Division Playoffs with resounding 36-0 shutout at Lakota East last Friday night. On a very ugly night weather wise, the Comets were focused and dominant, exacting a little revenge on the Thunderhawks after a loss to them in 2016.
Mason rolled up 384 yards of offense while the defense held the Hawks to just 126. The Comets had a 29-0 lead at the half. It was not a great night to pass the slippery pig skin as both teams combined for a total 6 pass completions.
Matt Sora led Mason with 168 yards rushing on 16 attempts and two TD's. Logan Dalton also had a big night with 109 yards on 11 carries and 1 TD. Connor Garry added 44 yards rushing on just 3 attempts and also scored a TD. Backup QB Jake Harris steadied the offense after starter Will Adams who left early in the game with an injury.
Mason Football (8-2, 6-2) will be making their 3rd consecutive appearance in the Region 4 OHSAA FB playoffs. The Comets, who finished in a three-way tie for 2nd in the GMC this season, has post season appearances in 2004, 2011, 2015, 2016 and now 2017.
