The Mason High School sideline cheerleaders had three wins at the 2017 GMC Cheer Championships this past weekend. The Comet freshmen finished first, JV finished second, and Varsity finished first in each of their respective divisions. Each cheerleading squad in the conference competed a cheer, chant, and dance, where the focus was on the quality of performing and showmanship. This is the first year Mason participated in this competition, and was able to outperform squads who have the experience of competing here in previous years.
Coach Courtney Linneman, Coach EV Kuzma, and Coach Megan Meyer choreographed each of their squads’ routines, and the squads have been practicing and perfecting these routines for a month and a half. In addition to perfecting the routines, the cheerleaders have been practicing and improving their tumbling skills since June.
All their hard work and great attitudes paid off in the end, as they brought home these first- and second-place titles. This was the first and only competition the sideline cheerleaders will compete in this year, and was a terrific end to their season.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE HARDWORKING ATHLETES AND THEIR COACHES!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR OUR PLAYERS AND TEAMS!
