The loss of use of the scoreboards seem to help the Mason players forget about the large deficit. The Comet defense provided plenty of pressure in the final minutes, forcing Cardinal turnovers and turning them into points on their end of the basket. Colerain had their chances to put the game away, but missed 7-8 free throws at one stretch allowing Mason to get back into a game that looked like a certain loss. Mason trailed by as many as 19 point in the contest.

The Lancers put together a big 2nd half.  In the third quarter LaSalle was able to establish a solid lead as the Comets struggled on the boards.  Heading into the final 8 minutes the Lancers held an 8 point advantage.  Mason fought their way back in the fourth quarter and got as close as 7 before LaSalle pushed the lead out of reach.
