Mason HS Girls Lacrosse made another go around in West Chester to take on the Lakota West Firebirds last night. Mason came out with a barrage of offense and a buttoned down defense that smothered the birds taking a 9-2 lead into halftime. Combine winning 75% of the draws, picked up twice as many ground balls, caused four turnovers, took two interceptions and saved five shots at the goal. Put it all together for a stellar team performance and solid win, 19-3.
By the numbers Cate Millard had 7 goals, Mary Ann Colangelo netted 5, Julia Block had 3, Kate Cooper had 2, Noorah Basher with a goal and Sophie Hoffman putting one in with a pretty sweet BTB shot! Ally Petrina went on a feeding frenzy assisting in four of those goals. Noorah was clutch with 6 draw controls and four ground balls and Bee Kuehn once again took command turning back 5 of Lakota's shots. Lilly Burke took three draw controls, Bianca Soper got herself a draw control and nice interception while Amanda Wells was fierce on transition and added draw circle support like no other.
The Comets defensive core of Bee Kuehn, Sophie Neuhaus, Megan Elko, Alana Vaughn, Riley Brannock and Madisen Bangs have been playing lights out. Holding our opponents to their lowest goals per game output.
Next up for your 4-3 Mason Girls Lacrosse team is a road trip to OlentangyHS on Saturday 4/14. Varsity starts at 11 am and JV draws at 12:30 PM!
