Mason Varsity Softball
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Varsity Softball Team. With only one week remaining in the 2017 regular season, the Comets find themselves all alone at the top of the GMC with a perfect 13-0 league record. This past week they cemented their position as the best in the conference with a big 8-1 win over Lakota East. Mason has a 16-3 overall record with 8 games remaining before tourney time. The Comets are the #2 ranked team in the city and #9 in the state polls. The team is coached by Liann Muff.



Varsity Baseball Team
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Varsity Baseball Team. The Comets are enjoying a solid season so far with an overall record of 11-4 and 7-4 in the GMC. The GMC is a tight race this season with many teams in the hunt for a title including our Comets. With 1/3 of the season remaining Mason is only two games off the league pace with some important games still remaining. A big highlight this season was the Comets defeating always tough Moeller 7-5 in the season opener. Mason is currently the #2 ranked team in the city. They are coached by Curt Bly.



Competition Cheerleading Team
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Competition Cheerleading Team. It has been a wonderful season for these talented and hardworking Comet athletes. They have recently qualified for the upcoming State Championships to be held at Ohio State's St. John Arena on March 5th. The team has won first place finishes and were crowned Grand Champions at the GMCE Holiday Cheerfest, Darby Spirit Cheer Series, Memorial Cheer and Cheer Max at Great Wolf. Girls Bowling Team
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Girls Bowling Team. The wins haven't been plentiful for the Comet girls this season, but the team is young, with no seniors, and they are gaining improvement with each match. Mason has secured wins against Amelia and Harrison this winter and are hopeful for more success in the upcoming postseason tournament. Mason is coached by Connie Smith.



Mason Wrestling
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Wrestling Team. The Comets under, new head coach Ryan Root, are experiencing another outstanding season on the mats. So far this season the team has wrestled outstandingly at every event. They crushed Moeller in a dual meet then went on to win the Dvorak Invite over break. They recently went undefeated at the West Virginia Duals improving their record to 15-0 in head-to-head matches. The Comets, ranked #2 in the city, will look to defend and add another GMC title later this season.



Girls Swimming And Diving
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Girls Swim/Dive Team coached by Mark Sullivan.

Without surprise, the Comets are the top ranked team in the Cincinnati polls. They have enjoyed great success so far in the 2016-17 season. Mason defended its own invitational title back in January and have been on a roll ever since. The girls swam incredibly well at the annual Canton Invite before the holidays and look forward to upcoming January events that proceed the championship season in February.



Boys Swimming and Diving
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Boys Swim/Dive Team. This past weekend the Comet boys won the Akron Firestone Classic by a 96-73 score. The next day they swam well at the prestigious Canton Christmas Invitational competing against 30 other teams. Earlier this season they finished third at their own Mason Invite on December 3rd. Mason is coached by Mark Sullivan.



Varsity Girls Basketball
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Varsity Girls Basketball team. After coming off last seasons run to the OHSAA State Finals, the Comet girls program shows no "let down" early on in the 2016-17 season. Mason is off to a strong 7-0 start with big wins already under their belts against GMC foes Lakota West, Oak Hills and Fairfield (5-0 in GMC). The Comets are ranked as the top team in the city and feature a blend of talented underclassman and returning players.

Mason Football Team
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Football Team. The 2016 season has had its ups and downs for the Comets. The team has an overall record of 6-4 and 4-3 in the always tough GMC. Making the playoffs for the second straight season is a big accomplishment that most teams would certainly relish. During the regular season, Mason had big wins versus Springboro, Hamilton and Fairfield. They secured the #3 seed in the upcoming post season playoffs, earning a home game versus Elder. Mason is coached by Brian Castner.



Mason Girls Cross Country
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Girls Cross Country Team. Like a broken record, the Comets march on to another stellar campaign in 2016. As a team they qualified for Regionals for the 8th consecutive season, winning the Southwest District Championship last weekend. The Comets competed well during the regular season, at some of the top CC events and against the best teams in and around the state. The team also won their 7th GMC title by a distance of over 40 points from their nearest competitor. Mason is coached by Chip Dobson.



Boys Cross Country
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Boys Cross Country Team. This massive Mason sport is once again in the throes of another stellar campaign in the 2016 season. The Comets won their 7th overall GMC Championship, outdistancing their nearest competitor by over 30 points. The Comets will begin the road to the state meet next Saturday at the District Championships also held at VOA Park. The Comet boys have dominated this event for almost a decade, winning the title 8 consecutive seasons and finishing 2nd two other times. Mason is coached by Tom Rapp.



Varsity Girls Soccer
This weeks El Caporal Team of the Week is the Mason Girls Varsity Soccer Team. The Comets are close to completing another regular season. They've lost one game in the GMC in 2016 with a league record of 5-1-2 and overall record of 8-5-2. The young Comets have had some tough losses this season, but are still ranked #5 in the area city polls. Mason is coached by Andy Schur.
