Mason Softball Goes 15-0




On Mason Youth Softball Day, the Mason Comets defeated the Hamilton Big Blue 13-0. In the circle, Elle Buffenbarger tossed a no-hitter, her first of the season. Freshmen Ali Weekly clubbed a 3 RBI, inside-the-park home run and Elana Harrison went 2-3 with 5 RBI and a pair of doubles. The Comets extend their GMC win streak to 31 games and are now 15-0 on the year.


Next up Mason is at Middletown on Wednesday, April 27th. 

Spring College Signing Event

You are invited to the Mason Athletics Spring College Signing recognition on Wednesday, May 4th in the HARVARD ROOM at Mason HS.  Comet athletes who have committed to play at the collegiate level will be recognized.  Family, friends, students and staff are all welcome.  The event will begin sharply at2:30 pm.  

Root Named To Lead Mason Wrestling Program

Ryan Root

The Mason Athletic Department has chosen Ryan Root as the next head coach of the Comet Wrestling Program, pending school board approval. Root succeeds former long time coach Craig Murnan, who recently announced his decision to retire from coaching after an illustrious 14-year career. Ryan brings a wealth of experience to the Comets, both as a former athlete and coach. As a competitor, Root was a standout, 4-time high school state placer and All-American at Lakota High School (class of 1995). Additionally, he was a 3X Greco-Roman and Freestyle State Champion and senior National Finalist.

For the second consecutive week at beautiful Prasco Park on Saturday night, the Comets got it done at clutch time in front of a capacity crowd as they scored four runs in the seventh to defeat Kings 6-2. And, for yet another year, the Trinity Diamond Classic trophy will remain on display at Mason High School.


Nicole Bagby Breaks City Record

Overall, this was an entire team effort with outstanding performances across the board. One new Mason School Record, City Record, and Centerville Record was set on Friday night in the Pole Vault. Nicole Bagby jumped 12' 4" which is currently 2nd best in the state of Ohio and now overall best in the entire Cincinnati area. Congrats to Nicole and her record-setting performance. Congrats to ALL the Mason Girls.


The Mason girls and boys basketball programs had tremendous seasons this year as evidenced by the recent announcement that their head coaches have received some special recognitions. Comet boys basketball coach Greg Richards and girls head Rob Matula have been named as the Ohio Girls and Boys Coaches of the Year by the Greater Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame (GCBHF).
